My first impressions:
* lots of things don't work or not at all as intended or as one assumes it would (see later, tagged with "$" instead of "*")
* lack of features everywhere, using the tool is getting pretty uncomfortable (and a bit illogical at some places as well) already, with just a few features added yet...
* even if this seems negative, in general it won't be a bad tool
$ can't add "quest text" anywhere, just notes for myself to follow my story (using a word doc on PC right now, so I need to copy that over to all machines or use e.g. googledocs...)
$ trying to add text to a "chapter" is painful. can add it with no trouble but can't move the textbox... so adding a title for an opening/starting screen ("chapter") is a pain in the butt
$ can't add my own songs to jukebox. doesn't really matter though as jukebox doesn't seem to play back anything, no matter how hard I press play button :) - also can't remove any song...
$ items (e.g. handouts) don't get sorted in alphabetic order, or at least remain in the same order as I added them but popping up randomly (different look on different PCs/browsers - sigh!). can't even move them by hand (drag&drop or up/down button next to each item)
$ chat window must be on the right side, can't move it outside e.g. to another window and make it flash/etc to notify me when it updates (e.g. skype, or any messenger), so it's very uncomfortable and when it come to play with my friends, it'll be a pain in the butt
$ can't upload files to store them for the quest. e.g. adding a pdf, word doc or something. it'll be very-very-very-andabitmore painful to add all autopsy reports to my quest typing them all on the site (instead of having a quick and simple text editor, change a thing or two and add the updated item as new)
$ for the above, no feature to "save as" e.g. handouts to quick copy them and have multiple items with minor -but important- differences
$ handouts2: no options to have "hand written text on postit", "old script", etc backgrounds, so one has to create all the notes and stuff by hand, having no templates to chose from (what I do now is word, screenshot and upload the image...)
$ when adding NPCs, should have a DB of faces to chose from, instead of fiddling around all the time with google image search
$ no option for grouping, which would be very useful even for small quests, not mentioning huge campaigns... e.g. "places", "notes", "proof", "weapons", "suspicious items", "material components", "items of interest", etc, etc. now what I do is tagging/prefixing (e.g. "places.houses.NPCname.outside/hall/livingRoom") but as no alhapbetic order/sorting, it's still a damn mess...
$ app. doesn't remember my settings (e.g. hide my video) which is annoying
$ can't set quest's type (e.g. ad&d, cthulhu, d&d -3rd-, shadowrun, cyberpunk, etc) which would be a great feature on the long run to categorize and e.g. share quests within the community, also if will be added the core enginge/ruleset of different games, the rules can be supported on the UI (charsheets for players, don't lookup for futuristic weapons if I search for "ranged weapon" in google for d&d but bows and arrows only, offer default dices to players, default handling of HP/mana/armor/etc, etc...)
$ can't quicktag & quicknote. so when I have players and will have to 'fine tune' or update the quest according to player actions (they do something I was not prepared to...) I'll have to use 3rd party tool. if I have a feature of adding quest details (mentioned above...) I could have a "comments" block too, same thing as in word but visible to GM only (e.g. "oups, a shortcut! players didn't do A or B but figured out a C solution for the issue I made; update quest as NPC 'X' won't do this or that as will be dead already...)
tons of other things... thrillions on my mind TBH... but... that's all for now :)
cheers,
mark
[edit]one more thing might be useful adding "as fast as possible" :) on the chapter screen, the background shouldn't be just drag to tile/fill, but there could be 2 buttons, such as in windows background: 1 is for tile, so copy the image selected to every single hex on the full size of map, 2 is for stretch, so pull out the image (even if losing quality) to all hex, ie "full screen". and this should remain consistent when one resizes the grid (either makes it smaller or larger vertically and/or horizontally)
thanks for reading all these, especially for fighting through my rusty English :P
