Before the Google Hangout update, there used to be a title bar where everyone could change the title. We used to update this with comical things and we miss it. Is it gone on purpose?

Im not sure which title bar you are referencing but it was probably on the Google side of things since you specifically cite the Google Hangout update. There probably isn't anything we can do about it. Sorry.
