Minor issue with ".jpeg" vs ".jpg"

Hi, I'm sure you guys are probably aware of this, but roll20 has a bit of a problem with the .jpeg format. My program by default exports jpgs with the ".jpeg" suffix, but if I try to upload that into roll20, it doesn't think it's a valid image, so I have to export it as a ".jpg" instead. It's a minor issue, but it took me some time to realize what the problem is. I'm thinking that if getting roll20 to be able to upload images with the .jpeg suffix is out, maybe in the upload menu there could be a list of valid image types, or a note mentioning which ones don't work, so future users don't have this confusion. Thanks!

We are aware of it as from the beginning roll20 only supported .jpg and .png format for image assets. We routinely recommend people to resave their images as jpg unless they need the background transparency then it should be png. There are some specific and rare instances that the gif format works but those are unique instances. More information about what image file type roll20 supports can be found in our  wiki .

You can manually change the extension of the file, and nothing happens. The only reason for the difference is because (very) old versions of Windows required all extensions to be 3 letters (while the Macs of the time did not), so the Joint Photographic Experts Group shortened their filename extension for Windows machines.
Yeah, the weird thing for me was they worked fine as jpeg once and then all ended up broken.

As this is not technically a bug, but is expected behavior, I will go ahead and close this thread.
