Antagarich: the Future

The first run-through of the heroic part of the Antagarich series is complete. This post will determine how the story continues. The following characters have participated in at least one session of the series and are therefore eligible to vote on the thing below: Targhar Maril Adrien Shivra Kril'ikik Bulwark Gilda Gelded Eamon Arina More weight may be put into the votes of the characters who played more than one session. In the days and weeks after the events of Antagarich 5, letters and messages about the state of the war keep coming to the Guild. Of major note are two things: 1) The old arbiter, Judge Grey, has died. All investigations indicate that it was simply a heart attack; there is no reason to suspect foul play. 2) A truce has been called between Erathia and Avlee, in part because of the apparent involvement of third parties in the conflict, and in part due to the death of the long-time arbiter. Both sides agree that as Lords of Harmondale, it is up to the guild members to choose a successor for Judge Grey, to mediate in the peace talks. In response to this, ambassadors from the nations of Deyja and Bracada have arrived at Castle Harmondale, both to announce their countries' official recognition of the guild members as Lords of Harmondale, and no doubt to secure diplomatic favors. I will assume that the relevant guild members will speak with both ambassadors. Please click the links below for their dialogue. http://pastebin.com/ah3hVgYN (Bracada) http://pastebin.com/x9QBCqyp (Deyja) Now that you have all this information, it is time for you to vote. These are the choices: Judge Fairweather (Bracada) Judge Sleen (Deyja) Please post which option you vote for. The vote will be up for one week from the date of this post, until everybody has voted, or until enough people have voted for one option that further votes will not change the outcome. Any votes for a different option will not be counted. More options will come after this choice has been made. Please don't post anything but votes in this thread. If you have any other questions, find me on Skype.

After long deliberation, the vote ended in a narrow victory in favor of appointing Judge Sleen as the new Arbiter. When guild members went to Deyja to inform him of this decision, he said: “A wise decision. You won't regret this--believe me. I knew you were going to make this decision, and my bags are already packed and ready to go. Let us return to Harmondale, so I can start my new job and begin to ‘sort out this mess’. Heh. Shall we?” Wendell Tweed (Castle Harmondale’s butler and historian) chronicled the decision as such: “My lords chose Sir Devon Sleen as the arbiter for the Treaty of Harmondale. Though he has a reputation as a skillful diplomat, his hands-off style has frequently led to unnecessary conflicts between parties seeking his aid. The negotiations between Queen Catherine of Erathia and King Elric Parson of Avlee are a perfect example. Unable to agree to a proper division of land, the negotiations swiftly ended, and the war resumed. Many, many deaths later, the war officially ended in a stalemate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2HZy3fVelQ In an historic development, the peace agreement provided for the creation of the Kingdom of Harmondale, naming my lords as the rulers and leaving to them the entire responsibility of administering the kingdom. Since invasion is not imminent, [...] hopes are high that the Kingdom of Harmondale will last a very long time. While ambassador Scale of Deyja seemed pleased with the choice of arbiter, Ambassador Wright was furious. He has issued (in the name of his government) a warning to my lords never to set foot in Bracada on pain of death. He has not withdrawn from the castle, however, indicating a willingness continue the ‘dialogue’ between our countries. Obviously, he hopes to extract some sort of concessions from us in the future.” So to summarize: The players chose Judge Sleen to be the new arbiter This, obviously, pleased Deyja and displeased Bracada Under Sleen’s hands-off diplomacy, negotiations broke down, and the war continued. With the help of the players who played in Antagarich 5, the artifact from that session just happened to find its way to the Arbiter's office, where it was used to shore up the weakness of the elven side, allowing the war to go into a stalemate Eventually, a peace was reached, with the result being that Harmondale was declared an independent kingdom, with the guild members as rulers When the end of the war is proclaimed, Judge Sleen sends a message to the Guild, which will set the stage for Antagarich 6A: The Pit.
