[LFP] Anamnesis (D&D 3.5e, custom setting, Starting March 17th, 1pm, AK standard)

Hey, my name's River, been DMing for about 4 years now. I've run RP heavy and combat heavy games, but this game will be more of an RP sort of game. There will be some combat as well, though, for sure. I'm looking at setting up for a new campaign taking place in my custom setting of Reydanfall.  This is to take place is the western-most kingdom of Sissel, a monarchy run by a line of Empresses. The whole of Reydanfall has only recently (within the last century) come out of a region-wide war, which ended with the usurpation of the dragon merchant-lords that reigned over them under the guise of a wealthy family of elves, humans, and half elves. Sissel, it seems, is one of the better fairing kingdoms after this ordeal.  The premise for the game is simple enough. Each of the players will play characters who took part in ending a civil revolt in the lakeside city of Caister. That will be the starting city, but don't plan on staying there for long. Before your characters know it, they'll be off to solve strange mysteries, explore the wilds, and perhaps get involved in local politics. I tend to run fairly open-ended games, and my stories are never  set in stone, so even I'm not sure where this will lead.  I'm looking for 3-5 people who'd be interested in playing long term (3-6 months, maybe longer) on Fridays starting the 17th of march, starting around 12 or 1pm Alaska standard time (GMT- 9). That should be 2 weeks from now. I want to start at around levels 3-7, but what level I start off at depends on how experienced the players involved are. The first session will be character generation, so don't stress out if you're not sure about how that works.  The game will be a mix of plain pen & paper with some mapped out combat here on roll20. I have a few ground rules, which I go over in  this tumblr post , but it's mostly rules about not being dicks to your fellow players and the GM. There's also some other info in that post, if you want to look through that. Mainly, for this thread, just know that if you're not at least 18 I won't let you join. Nothing personal, it's just a matter of liabilities.  I'm accepting any level experience! Even if you've never played any TRPG before, you're welcome to post here in this forum to show your interest! If you're interested, message me or respond to this post. I should get back to you in less than a day, but if I don't, be patient! I will be sure to get back to you. Also, please feel free to ask any questions you have for me, here or via message is fine. Have a good one, and thanks for reading! Edit: I forgot to post some questions I want people to answer! If you've messaged me already, don't worry, I see you and I've already begun sending this list to you, so be patient! What timezone are you in? What times are you available for a game through (In that same timezone)? Can you make a 3-4 hour session every week, or at least 9/10 weeks? What's your favourite class to play and why? What appeals to you most about D&D? Can you stay committed to a character for several sessions? Lastly, do you like a lot of character interaction? These questions just help me make sure the game's a good fit for you, so answer them as thoroughly or as plainly as you feel you need!
Heya! This looks interesting! My Skype is ferelonshaderoot. Message me when you can! What timezone are you in? Est. What times are you available for a game through (In that same timezone)? Noon until midnight. Can you make a 3-4 hour session every week, or at least 9/10 weeks? Yeah, easily What's your favourite class to play and why? Mah favorite class's knight because i like making tanky characters plus it's fun making up the character with its path while if the character breaks its oath through story reasons and climatic moments it's not as bad as ah paladin character losing all of its stuff and icly has ta pray for 3 days What appeals to you most about D&D? I love heavy rp and it's fun actin with men and wemen ya meet. Also im ah voice actor and love usin it when makin up characters. Can you stay committed to a character for several sessions? Yeah, I don like changing out ah character until one dies. Lastly, do you like a lot of character interaction? I love makin up mah character interactin with other characters, npcs, or enemies and how the dm or other players make up its personality.
Oh goodness :( both campaign and you as a GM sound amazing (read your tumblr post), but a you'll see from points 1-3 there might be a problem :( But I'll do my application either way, maybe we can work something out :D 1. Timezone: GMT+1 2. Depends. While playing once every week - tuesdays 9AM-1PM. Mondays 6PM-midnight, maaaybe 1AM. Saturdays I could even work with something like 6AM-4PM. Sundays even, but that might be more difficult, but I can manage. 3. Yes, but with all things in points 1 and 2. 4. Oooh, it's a tough question. It depends :D but I think Cleric or Warlock. 5. Hmm... Mostly nostalgia, I think :D I had many emotional campaigns in D&D, and even though it's not a perfect mechanics, I know it well, and know how to overlook some flaws and focus on roleplaying and epic action. 6. Of course! Unless my character has a reason, I will play till the end. 7. Character interaction is IMO the basis for RPGs. I can't live with some cool roleplaying with friends, it's just so much fun.
Hi, I'm really new to all this, never played a game before, but I've been trying to for a year now. Saw your post on tumblr and just had to rush over. I may not be able to join do to my schedule, but it in the off chance here's my applicat What timezone are you in? CST. What times are you available for a game through (In that same timezone)? Unfortunately I work M-F 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM, but I can play anytime on the weekends. Can you make a 3-4 hour session every week, or at least 9/10 weeks? For sure. What's your favourite class to play and why? I don't have much of a preference since I'm new, but sir we seems like my cup of tea. What appeals to you most about D&D? The storytelling potential. Can you stay committed to a character for several sessions? Oh yeah. Lastly, do you like a lot of character interaction? Yeah that is a big part of what I'm looking for in this game.
All posts have been responded to via message up to this point.  Also, a quick addendum: There is a slight possibility that the time will move to 4:15pm AKS, so if that is a dealbreaker, let me know in your response please.  Thanks so much for your responses and interest! It means a lot!
Hm, you're switching to 4:15 AKS? That's actually way more convenient for me, although it depends on how long the game lasts. My Skype is windscar18, in case you want to chat up. In either case, here's my details: 1) What timezone are you in? CST. I'll be switching to EST in the fall. 2) What times are you available for a game through (In that same timezone)? Currently, I can make it from 2 PM CST onwards on Fridays. In the fall, that will most likely change; it'll most likely be 5 or 6 EST on Fridays when I'm free. 3)  Can you make a 3-4 hour session every week, or at least 9/10 weeks? It depends on how my research schedule is looking. Right now, I'm way more free because I just got done with my thesis, but, again, the fall is the big monkey wrench. 4)  What's your favourite class to play and why? I tend to be a bit of a generalist; it's either a cool concept or a funny interaction that gets me more interested than a class. That said, without other factors, I do prefer Rogues or rogue-like types; I find the ability to actually have enough skill points to suggest an interesting life outside of combat to be pretty integral. 5)  What appeals to you most about D&D? The system or RP in general. I love RP, especially with regards to settings and setting-building, but I tend to not have overwhelming preference for systems in general (and I learn a lot of them). 6)  Can you stay committed to a character for several sessions? Well, considering I CURRENTLY play a game with a character going on...oh geez, 4-5 years now? It does, of course, depend on the character concept I've come up with, but I've never had a problem for at least a couple sessions. 7)  Lastly, do you like a lot of character interaction? Well, if I didn't, I wouldn't be applying to this game specifically.
