Turf War The party are a group of dragonborn and kobolds, worshipping Ra-Garak, a young Black Dragon who, until recently, lived in the sewers beneath Dravens’ Port. Driven out by undead, the group have taken up residence in what was a school of some sort. Of course, they did have to evict some of the previous inhabitants (not all of them, Ra-Garak gets hungry). Just south of the arena, this was some sort of school of medical study. The building is solidly built of stone. The basement layer has several doors that have apparently been locked from the inside and are reinforced with steel. Ra-Garak finds many of the hallways and inner passageways cramped. Nearby in the neighborhood are some thugs who have taken up residence in a building, as well as a group of hobgoblins who are in the city for unknown reasons. During the day, the thugs, hobgoblins & goblins pressed into service occasionally duke it out. Patrols are coming through occasionally, and the thugs and hobgoblins, despite fighting amongst themselves, have presented a solidified front to keep city guards from ousting them. It is up to the players if they participate in this gang alliance. At night undead get active in the sewers, characters hear scratches from the basement rooms which have been locked, and occasional eerie wails and moans. The School When the characters first arrived in the school 3-4 days ago, the streets were still unsafe and they were driven from the sewers by undead. Several students and a couple of assistant professors were still here when the party arrived, they quickly dispatched all resistance. One professor escaped, vowing to return with reinforcements. Each professor and all of the students each had a red ribbon tied somewhere on their person, but each of a different size/style and located in a different place. Curious. Quite possibly a plot hook linked to the main story line? Who knows… The school is made of solid stone, with thick wooden doors. Around the school are multiple statues of gargoyles scattered about the school in corners and hallways. The school seems to be some sort of history/anatomy school. Many/most of the books are devoted either to Shrave history, world history, or are specifically about creatures, races, and the physiology of humanoids. Also numerous are medical books and study texts about the use of various types of medical equipment. The characters notice that compared to the number of rooms present, the school should hold roughly 12 servants, 2 assistant professors, 4 professors, 1 senior professor, a school master, 32 students, and 8 senior students. They only encountered about 15 students, 2 senior students, a couple of professors, and 6 servants when they arrived. Basement Mostly storage, some rooms have large iron doors. There are tracks on the ceiling, that go around the area, some have chains with large meat hooks on the end. The storage rooms have various supplies and backups, most normal mundane items. They are unsure what is behind the locked doors. Ground Floor The ground floor opens up into a “foyer” area with chairs, tables, and various bookshelves. It is a greeting, lounge area of sorts, and is where students probably “hang out”. Back when they used to. To the NW is the library, and the NE a study. Various guest rooms are on the ground floor. It looks like two of the guest rooms were “abandoned” by their former tenants. Blood stains are on both floors. In the personals of those room are some gold, shields, chain shirts, longswords, insignia of the City Guard of Guilds Town, and a couple of Tiamat holy symbols. The 2nd Floor: Professor Living The second floor is mostly just living quarters for the professors and servants. The servant rooms have 3 sets of bunk beds stacked 2 high each (6 servants). The professor rooms have 1 bed each with a desk and various knick-knacks. Amidst their scrolls and books, they find several references to someone named “Ruara.” The Senior Professor’s chamber has been ransacked, but it looks like that happened before the characters arrived. The master’s chambers are magically sealed. The Inner Sanctum looks like a ceremonial room of some kind with gargoyles in each corner. In the center is an altar. 3rd Floor: Student Living The third floor is student living. Featuring a kitchen and dining room. One section of the kitchen is curtained off, it looks like for bathing. The kitchen features a device of some kind that pumps water up from the lower floors. The dining room is set up with a “nice” table likely for the professors, then crappy thin tables for students. Student quarters are set up with 2 bunk beds each, only slightly less cramped than the servant quarters. The senior student rooms just have 2 beds each. In the middle is a study area which also looks like a classroom area.
