Prehistoric Park is a campaign centered on a tribe of humans surviving on the open plains common in the year 10,000B.C. Their tools may be primitive but they never-the-less survive in a land filled with massive mammoths, dangerous saber-toothed tigers, and tribal rivals. For generations your tribe has mastered the hunting of the mammoth and foraging for berries. They've discovered the power of the atlatl and fire. The gods, seen floating through the heavens, have been kind and generous in providing for all the tribes needs. That is until now. After long years of plenty the tribe has entered a period of hardship. Food sources are dwindling, the mammoth, critical to your peoples way of life, is quickly growing less numerous. Worse, the gods have disappeared from the sky - you are forsaken. It is unclear what angered the gods but hope remains that a way can be found to regain their favor. It'll be up to you, the PCs, to guide your tribe through this period of strife. Will you maintain the old ways and search for the lost favor of the gods? Or will you promote dangerous new ideas that threaten the old traditions? However you go about it you'll need to secure food, provide protection, and find answers. The tribes fate is in your hands. Will your children tell stories of your heroism at night around the fire? Or will your name be forgotten - no one left alive to speak it? You decide! Welcome to Prehistoric Park. [Prehistoric Park: Additional Setting Info] --- My GURPS There are a lot of ways to play GURPS (Generic Universal RolePlaying System). Which rules the GM chooses to use, what setting he places the game in, which additional books he allows, can change the feel of the game greatly. I play GURPS because I like having an answer for any action the player might take. I don't mind spending a minute to look up a rule or double check what a skill's defaults are. This slows the pace of the game down slightly but I've found that the players I have don't mind. In fact, we seem to enjoy taking a minute (and only a minute) to all whip out the PDFs and find the rule we all vaguely remember and iron it out. I enjoy a less abstract, more detail-oriented, style of play. I do use the full tactical combat rules (hex grid, facing) and I'll be looking into the rules for hiking, fatigue, and hunger as these are dangers prehistoric man couldn't ignore. I like to use the rules, but the game still remains about roleplaying. Players should be describing what their character does first and foremost - after we know what is happening then we can work out how. Which in most cases will involve rolling 3d6. [Prehistoric Park: Character Creation Info] --- Campaign Info Now for relevant campaign topics. Time:  Weekly, Saturday nights, 7pm-11pm EST. We may stop anywhere after 10pm depending on when a good stopping point is reached. Lately we've been stopping closer to 11pm. Audio: Discord. Working microphone's are **required**. Discord is free and runs in a browser, although I've found the desktop app works better. We're not allowed to link to other companies but google 'Discord free voice' and it will come up. Video: Roll20. Webcam's are **required**. Since I switched to video I've found it provides a better experience. RPGs are a social hobby and I prefer seeing a person over a avatar image. System: GURPS 4E: Basic Set (Characters). Basic Set (Campaigns) is nice to have, but it's really just situational rules that may or may not ever come up. I'll be using Low-tech for weapons/armor but I can provide that information if you don't own the book. GURPS Lite is free and can technically get you started. It has everything you need to make a character but with a significantly parred down advantage / disadvantage list. Attendance: Take a moment to consider whether you can commit 4 hours every Saturday night. If you can't make a game I ask that I be notified in advance so we can attempt to reschedule or work out a solution - that's ok. Missing multiple games every month due to other obligations won't fly. New Player's Welcome? I am prepared to help players learn the system. I am prepared to explain the Roll20 interface / macros. I am **not** prepared to run a demo to Roll20. This is intended to be a campaign, not a one-shot. For a Roll20 demo or intro to RPGs as a hobby I'd recommend trying a few one-shots first. Mature Content? Unticked. I tend to run a clean game but have been known to drop into foul language when appropriate for an NPC I'm roleplaying. --- How to Join If you've gone through the above and would like to join you can post in the ' Listing Discussion ' on the LFG or send me a PM. Please include more content than "I want to join" as I need enough to form an opinion of you. Timezone, why you're interested in this game in particular, GURPS familiarity - these are good topics to mention. While the listing is active I'll make an effort to respond to any interest.
