Hey guys. Been working hard all week preparing for Rivers Run Red, part 2 of the Kingmaker Chronicles! I'm
pretty excited, but also prepared. This is going to be a slight change
of pace (though, after the early grind due to excessive landmass
increases beyond your control, I doubt this is going to feel "slow",
persay). There are several notable changes coming up to the
campaign, the biggest of which will obviously be the foundation of your
fledgling kingdom. Your kingdom is going to function almost like another
"character", one with entirely different and unique attributes, and one
that you all share. My understanding of the Kingmaker system is NOT, I
repeat NOT, flawless. I expect to have to research rules, hash them out,
and will also likely be cross-referencing my understanding of them with
Max's, who has been running this AP. That said, don't feel I am relying
on his translation of new rules/systems as more valuable than anyone
else for any reason other than exposure, and experience. Also,
because you will all be sharing what is essentially another character
sheet, I am now going to require ALL character sheets are prepped and
ready to go before each session. I would greatly prefer if players used
the one provided via Roll20, but if you'd truly rather use an different
app or pencil and paper, I wont stop you. I will still require, however,
that your turns be taken expediently, at least for the purposes of game
mechanics. While I will gladly cede the floor to a player who is
role-playing on their turn, I am no longer going to wait overly long
periods of time for people to construct complex algorithms for each
roll. If you want to use macros, have them prepared. If you want to roll
dice, know what your basic and most commonly buffed mods are, so each
roll is a matter of simply checking the dice, and adding the modifier. Players
who are unable to have their characters ready on/by their turn will be
passed, similar as 'holding their action' while they prepare (find
abilities, add up modifiers, re-plan a changed tactic due to another
player's turn, etc). They will then be able to interject as soon as they are
ready, but only at the end of the current player's turn. This rule is coming into effect tonight. I
don't plan on being a tyrant about this. I just want to get as much
playing time out of each session as possible. If there is a legitimate
reason your character sheet isn't prepared, or has broken down as they
do from time to time, simply petition myself and your other players, and
we will help out and be patient.
