DM LFG to test out something a little different. 5e based Homebrew

Hey, so I've finally decided to jump into the role of DM once again after having quite some time since the last game i ran.  And i'm looking to bring a few people to test some systems, and the starting area for a Homebrew campaign in 5e.  The basic premise is that you have been pulled from your world, and appeared in this new one.  You have no idea where you are, or who the people you are with are,  you are human but hated as "outsiders" by all the denizens of this new world.  You, along with your companions, must survive in this world that contains magic, and abilities you have never seen before.  This is a world that i have been working on creating and fleshing out for something like 7 years now. It is up to you and your companions to figure out what you do, and how you survive in a world that hates you, and is in the midst of a major power struggle between 4 different nations, and a controlling nation-city that has maintained peace for almost a century. There is no time set for this yet, and we'll figure it out with the applicants once i have 3-4, and most of it will be done in the theater of the mind for this first run as the point is to mostly test the questing, and leveling system's I've wanted to try.  But i will still be pushing a heavy RP mindset, as i want even the testers to try and be as immersed as possible.  If you are interested please send me a PM.  The game itself, will use Discord for Voice, so i ask that everyone have the ability to speak up.   This will not be the full game, once the starting village has been run through, the game will end while i finish up the rest of the world, but the players are welcome to come back when the real game starts in the future.  Name: Times available: (if you can convert to PST that would be great) Character Background: (i just want a little backstory about the character, there should be a reason why you are willing to leave your home universe, be it sudden unexpected death, or some sort of situation that would make the predisposed to wanting to leave their world.  While none of the characters will know WHY they were brought here, and will not remember the last few moments before being "pulled" their backstory should still effect their actions while in this new world) We will have a bit of a 0 session to help set up these characters stats and kind of walk through the first little intro to the game,  at this time please just focus on the background of your character, where did they come from? when did they come from? and what were they doing that would make them want to willingly leave the world they were in behind. The class system will be a bit of a RP/skillcheck/point buy method, so don't go about deciding a class just yet.  Try and set up your character with the idea of where they came from in mind rather than the class you want them to be.
So, the only races would be human, I'm assuming?
Yeah, color me intrigued. I'd like a bit more info before applying, like: is any "alternate world" allowed, or just standard Earth? What about alternate timelines on Earth, for example, a timeline where the Library of Alexandria was never destroyed, resulting in a much earlier technology boom and a resulting golden age? Is  it only humans allowed, or can we make our own species with their own stats (within reason, of course). How long are you anticipating the "starting village" taking in terms of number of sessions?
There could be some discussion about the race, but they should be "near human" at the most, and you would be "weak" humans at that, with low starting stats.  It is a story where i'm looking to foster growth of characters into heroes, through the interaction with the world they currently find themselves in.  Do they strive to become heroes? do they follow in the path of past "outlanders" and become villains? or do they just focus on finding a way home amidst the strife that is befalling this world? As for what sort of worlds you could come from.  Any and all are available, but if people try and bring in advanced sciences they may just find out that this world's rules are a little different from the ones they are used to.  If you want a "near human" race, that may be fine, i wouldn't mind talking about it in the 0 session, but the stat rules would remain the same for all.  you are allowed to take points from one stat, and place it in another to a certain extent, to allow for customization, but don't expect to be getting anything higher than 12's in your starting stats at this time.  The starting characters are supposed to be relatively under powered.   As for The starting area's, how long it would take would depend on how much people decide to RP, and what quests they select to take on, or if they take on any quests at all. i would expect that it would probably be about 3-4 sessions counting the 0 session.  When i have everything finalized i would expect to be playing for years depending on what the players end up wanting to do.

Hello Ryan  I would be interested in playing. 1. I am available any weekday from 2pm pst - 12pm pst 2. I am good with making any character. As an example here is a backstory for a revenge driven half human whos quest has lead him to your world: The battles between the empires forces and the various Orkish war-bands raged. As the years passed it seemed the raids would never end. It was in this time that Ulric Utredson emerged. A brilliant strategist and fierce warrior he rose through the ranks until he was commanding the empires armies. Under his campaign the war-bands were pushed back. In a bid to rid the empire of the Orkish threat forever the emperor commanded Ulric and his army to push into Orkish lands. The Ork settlements were poorly defended and did not fight favorably on defensive terms. It was genocide. It was in this time that the Wolfspear clan mobilized. Among their ranks was Irk'Surri a powerful Ork Shameness. She and her clan formulated a plan defeat the evaders. Magically weaving the form of an escaped slave she infiltrated the human war camp. She seduced Ulric and while he slept slit his throat. Without their commander the empires army buckled in enemy lands and were slain one and all. Gulrick Wolfspear was born to Irk'Surri in the months that followed. He inherited his Fathers strategic mind and his mothers strength and powers. He grew to be a fearsome warrior, tracker and a proficient wielder of Orkish powers. After several years a cult of dark sorcerers and warlocks struck a bargain with the again overrun Empire. They released a terrible plague on the Orks. Gulricks entire clan and mother became victims of the disease. Only Gulricks survived. His human heritage providing immunity to the diseases effects. Rising from the ashes of his clan Gulric swore vengeance on all magic users. Especially those responsible for the malady and he set off on a journey to KILL THEM ALL!!!!
Hey guys i've gotten a couple of great applications, but would like to get a few more before trying to sync everyone's time to meet up and test this out. The only note i have is that character concepts are great, but you'll probably get more of the feeling i'm trying to convey if you're a normal person, with no great feats of heroics or villainy.  Otherwise it'll be a pretty big disconnect for the character when they reach this world and realize that a half grown child could probably kick their ass.  (it's not such a big deal for this testing phase, but if you have intrest in playing in the main game, it's something important to keep in mind)  Edit: after thinking for a bit, your race can be just about anything, i just ask that it's near human, and everyone will be using the same starting stats anyways, so your race is a purely cosmetic thing.  The only reason i was thinking "only human" before was because i was going for a "Stranger in a strange land" feeling, more than "Fantastic people coming into another fantastic world." A scientist studying string theory and obsessed with the idea of the multi verse and yearning to travel between the different worlds, and in mid conversation with a co-worker, suddenly popped into this one to their perspective. A poor beggar caught or framed for burglary, and about to be hanged, in a last ditch effort for justice he cries out to the heavens for help before the floor drops out from under him, but instead of hanging, he finds himself sprawled out on the void like floor of the chamber you all find yourself in.  a paraplegic, trapped in a wheelchair for life, lamenting the inability to care for themselves, wanting desperately to just be normal again.  Forced to watch her family wither and break their backs trying to care for her, before being placed in a home when her family abandons her.  Falling asleep one night with tears in her eyes, she finds herself in this new realm, with full control of her body once again. A criminal, his gang destroyed by the police, or another crime family, facing a life on the run, facing a life where he would be constantly hunted... finds himself in this world suddenly after turning down an ally, where not only is no one chasing him, no one knows who the fuck he even is. A futuristic sniper, on the battlefield... her thermo-scope falls over her target, another sniper she had been sent to hunt. As she grins about to enjoy her kill, there's a flash, she feels the shattering of her scope as the beam of light strikes it, the sharp pain in her eye, she cries out... and finds herself on the floor of a shadowy void, along side several different strangers.  Grabbing at her tech she finds that none of them seem to work anymore, and all the strange contraptions the others hold, small boxes with black screens, also seem to be dead.... A student, late for school, runs out into the street without looking, only to hear the blare of a horn and a screeching of wheels, before they awake within the room of shadows and void....   (Cliche, but ya know, truck-kun is fucking everywhere these days) If a shadowy/bright figure suddenly appeared to your character and offered them the chance to start over in a brand new world.... why would your character accept it? (not saying that's what actually happens, as the "why and how" of the characters appearance is part of the later story, but that's how you should approach character concepts.)
Still looking for 1-2 more people, if we don't have anyone else by Monday I'll start with the 2 who have shown interest so far.
