I'm new to this and wanted to know how to get started.

So i know nothing about this, but a friend of mine has been doing this with another group of friends and I've seen some videos on youtube. The whole idea of it seemed like a lot of fun, but I don't really know where to get started. Can someone recommend me some good resources and what I might need to begin my adventure? I would be doing this mostly over skype, not in person. Thanks for your help guys!
There are some youtube videos that may help. Just Youtube Pathfinder roll20. Maybe you may find more roll20 videos. If you aren't going to gm, My best advice is to jump in. And ask questions.
thanks for your response ill do that tomorrow its gettin pretty late.
Well, here's what I'd advise, assuming you intend to play instead of host your own game: 1. Learn about the Roll20 system by watching videos and reading the Wiki. 2. Decide what game you want to play (Pathfinder, one of the D&D variants, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu, or whatever system you like.) 3. Look in the Community Forums for a GM hosting the game type you want, at a time you're available. 4. Post to their listing and hope you get chosen. 5. Listen carefully when they tell you how to make your character and do so using their ideas; share your ideas with them so you make a character that fits their game, but one you still want to play. If you're very new, ask if they have a pre-generated character you can play, that's often easier to start with. 6. Show up on time for every game, or let them know in advance if you're going to miss a session. 7. DON'T BE A JERK! (Yeah, I know you're cool, but I still feel this needs to be said. So many people seem to forget this part!) 8. Repeat from step 3 because even if you do everything right, something will go wrong and you'll need to find a new game to play! 9. Give up and host your own game as GM and hope you get some good players! Just kidding about step 9. Probably. q;}

As an addition to 5. 5a. Be willing to play a pregenerated character if the GM is offering one to you. Sometimes a GM will have a spare character due to some one leaving or such so be willing to play it as you learn.
Thanks a lot guys
Nice advices, I'm new too, so thanks a bunch!
Nice post.
