What happened: Talked with Bigmug, Rurrick drunk under the table (literally). Ailekk talked with a Kenku, who called him a “Dirty Bird” and told him not to go outside because the guards were looking for him. Both in different voices. Ailekk and Urd notice talking outside, a crowd is gathering. A gang fight is happening in the east docks. Undead and cultists are attacking, and being repelled by locals with leather armor. The party alerted Bigmug who went outside to talk to the crowd, the party followed. They went to the cliffs, Cassius paid 15g for a cloak from a Kenku. The couldn’t see the battle real well. Bigmug led them to a cottage on the cliff side where they could see guards streaming into the docks, the screams of innocent people as undead were attacking them, and gang of leather-armored groups of 5 defending their home turf from the Dead Man’s Grace cultists. After minutes of discussing their options, the cultists got what they wanted off a ship and retreated. The woman in brown robes/cloak opened a portal to send them back somewhere. Bigmug told the party their options were to wait in the church while he tried to find a sympathetic Elder, or turn themselves into the authorities. The party was a little divided in the situation above. Urd and/or Reis were in favor helping the people below, meanwhile Cassius and/or Rurrick [I don’t remember the entire conversation so feel free to correct me] were more in favor of leaving the town entirely. I think Ailekk was in favor of not leaving because of his desire to solve the mysteries of coming evil. They decided to wait and slept that night, while Cassius discovered the stained glass windows told the story of a paladin betrayed by a friend who became a liche and imprisoned the liche, who was then taken by Tymora and Tyr to become a demi-god. Cassius doesn’t know the name. The next morning they met with Bigmug who went off to find an elder. While hanging around there was a knock at the door with Elder Elissa, wearing a mason’s apron and carrying both a mace and a hammer. With her were 2 half-dragons (body guards?), 3 lieutenants, and 6 city guards. During the conversation the PCs explained their plight while Elissa agreed with them about the evilness of the cults. It was then the lieutenants drew their swords. In the ensuing battle, the half-dragons, the lieutenants and 3 of the 6 guards all turned against the party and Elissa. Elissa fought with the party using her mace two handed to beat the creatures. Ailekk dropped several, Rurrick entangled to great effect, Cassius used misty step to beat on a lieutenant, the half-dragons breathed to kill several friendlies, Ries did a little bit of damage and hurt some folks, Urd acted as the party tank, even the kenku minions of Bigmug stepped in and did some damage. Cassius was beat on by the lieutenants and the half-dragons, Elissa was killed. The party took 2 lieutenants alive. While the party was discussing what to do, the kenku were dragging Elissa’s body to the basement. There the party discovered runes in the floor, Rurrick deciphered them (he now has advantage to decipher these runes), as meaning “Only friends may pass.” Reis and Urd passed uneventfully, Ailekk & Cassius felt sick trying to pass them and Rurrick felt as though he was unwanted so he stayed behind. Urd and Reis made it to the layer of a Guardian Naga, along with the Kenku and Elissa’s body. There the naga stopped Elissa’s “Spirit from departing the mortal realm and ascending, if it still had work to do here.” but could not revive it. After they offered up suggestions, she asked if they would go after Bigmug, or find a way to revive Elissa. Urd and Reis suggested Bigmug could take care of himself, and maybe the naga could send help. She (or he?) did by sending the kenku out a side door. Meanwhile, Cassius was contemplating tossing a lieutenant onto one of the runes while Ailekk went upstairs to get some fresh air and search the corpses. On the bodies of the other lieutenant, half-dragons, and 3 of the city guards he found symbols of Tiamat.
