You know, its really hard to find a GM that is on the same page as you are. Its even harder when you have trouble articulating what you're looking for in a campaign. So I'll give it my best, and please forgive my rambling on. As an older gamer, I started playing with AD&D 1st edition, I admit I was swept in by the artwork. Larry Elmore's art showing a group of adventurers holding up a tiny little dragon like a hard won victory sucked me in. So I like so many gamers I started diving into things linked to my new hobby. I moved onto Dragonlance , which again featured Mr. Elmore's art, I used that to more or less find my way through RPG books. In that series I was drawn in as motley group of adventurers were drawn into a huge war where it seemed the forces of evil had won, but not fully completed their takeover. I thrilled following their every step as their actions made a difference in the world. Another series I happened to pick up at the time was Thieves' World, I liked how dark the characters were, even the main characters were were tarnished by the corruption of Sanctuary. Its what turned me from dungeon crawling as a player to looking more towards city adventures. As the years rolled by I came and went from RPGs, dropping the hobby when life didn't permit the time, picking it up once again when it did. However, the early novels stuck with me. I fell in reading Forgotten Realms novels with The Crystal Shard, and again I was drawn back into a gritty sort of fantasy setting. Sure there were some aspects of humor in there with Brunor and Rumblebelly, but overall it was a serious tone. Gaming, for me, has always been sort of hit or miss. I've GM'd and I have played and one of the problems I have always bumped into is people that don't understand mood. You try to set a game to feel like Batman: The Animated Series, then there's the guy that wants to play Freakzoid. You join a game that's supposed to be spies and assassins, then that one guy wants to play a bumbling college student. So I guess as I get to the point here what I am looking for is a GM that's interested in running a Savage Worlds Fantasy game. Something more gritty where the players are playing heroes struggling to push back the darkness. Something epic, something long reaching, where the actions of the PCs matter in time. Something with deep roleplaying, and some action to boot. Yeah, I know what a lot of people are thinking, "Why not GM it yourself," the thing is I have tried. Just "that guy" keeps showing up and its taken the wind out of my sails. So I want to play, recharge my batteries and enjoy a more mature game with people that are looking for the same thing. So, dream GM, if you're out there, I'm free most days except for Thursday and Saturday. I'm on the EST time zone.
