Musing over the setting history, I started wondering about a few things. I decided that some of these things the GM has already decided on, and that any information our characters might have may indeed be false. Or these are simply wild rumors without any basis for fact. So, here on some conspiracy theories about the setting: A mind can be digitally copied. Every noble has back-ups. This explains why nobles forget things, suddenly make strange descios, and so on. They were recently killed and replaced by a bad copy or an older copy. A mind can be digitally copied. An artificial intelligence was accidentally created that has been uploaded into all of the nobles, and they are only pretending to act against each other. A computer now rules the galaxy. All of the nobles are really copies of the same person, who isn't the king/emperor. Aliens have been discovered, but the nobles used drones to conquer them and enslave them. Cloning doesn't work. The nobles are just downloaded into the bodies of serfs and under go plastic surgery to look different. Nobles are aliens. They are a totally different species, which is why jumping from body to body works for them and not serfs.
