Why do games meet in discord and not in roll20?
The integrated voice/video chat tends to bog down the game server if several people are in the game. It is one of the issues known to Roll20. Easier to use a free voice chat like Discord for voice and Roll20 for the visuals.
There's a stickied post in the Announcements forum that shows what they have done to try to fix the problems. But I for one dont like Roll20 chat for one very simple reason. No push to talk button. They have a half ass push to mute button that you can sometimes configure to work half the time. For that reason alone I will continue to use Discord when I DM.

The announcement post that Steve mentioned is  here . The devs are constantly improving the Audio/Video along with accepting constructive input and feedback on errors when they happen. That thread starts  here .
In my last post I didnt mean to imply the push to mute was on Roll20. It is a work around someone else came up with. Last I looked at it Roll20 uses a third party chat system tokbox that didnt have the push to talk functionality.

Sorry I was not clear when I typed feature (it is a feature to me as I run and play text not voice). I edited my post to reflect the subject being discussed.
With seven people logged in, we had no choice but to use Discord also because of dropouts. Which honestly is a concern going forward when paying for an account.
My games are smaller, and we use hangouts.  My players comes from all over (I think one might be from Mars) and some can't use discord, and some can't make use of Roll20 chat.  Hangouts, while not prefect, happens to work for us.

Note that it's not a sunset of Hangouts, it's a sunset of the Hangouts API, which is how you could have Roll20 right within Hangouts. You could still use Hangouts in the same way people use Discord or Skype.
