Harry Potter Dungeons and Dragons compilation. Anyone interested?

I'm creating a Harry Potter Dungeons and Dragons compilation game. I'll probably finish in less than a week. To clarify, I don't really want to actually involve any of the main HP characters....I just really like the world and the idea of combining Dnd and something like a hedge maze/Triwizard Tournament or something. I've taken a lot of information I've found from other people who've formed HP rpg's and I wasn't happy with any of them- they're all either way too simple or too complicated, so I'm rewriting to fit my style, which focuses on creativity and fun for both players and dm. Rules are good but I'm not interested in slapping any hands. I love puzzles and traps and journeys and taverns. I definitely want to make it so that you can attend Hogwarts as different Dnd races, not just the classic wizard/witch but we'll see. Would anyone be interested? How hard should I work on this lol

I believe you should just base this around the Harry Potter universe, something not so necessarily the timeline of Harry Potter's story, but moreso to something like the route Fantastic Beasts and where to find took.  Using the worldlore as the setting and creating a story some time before or after Harry Potter's timeline happened.
Also, I would suggest a form of ruling which would weigh more heavily on wands for that matter

Thank you for responding! But yeah, sorry if that wasn't clear... I didn't want to include already-existing HP characters, so it would definitely take place in the past or future from the existing Rowling universe. I do want to include a lot of aspects from 5e because I really like the way they mesh and I don't really like the way a simple hp rpg works. I think if one were to just do an hp rpg, it works a lot better single player on like, hogwartsishere.

Heya! This looks interesting! My Skype is ferelonshaderoot and my discord is William#7031. Message me when you can!
Personally, I am not sure that D&D 5e or Pathfinder are the right systems.  To me, the best part about the magic system is that the only offensive spells are curses.  I think that FATE, or maybe Cortex would handle that better.

Thank you for your advice! But I mean, I think there are ways to make curses more challenging and damaging than other spells? Honestly, the only rpg knowledge I have is 3.5 and 5e Dnd. Why do you think FATE and Cortex would be better systems?

They are settingless systems that are really good.  FATE especially is not too complicated and can be used to handle what I think makes the Potterverse's magic system really stand out.  This is the fact that, apart from the killing curse, there are no damaging spells.  You have to curse your opponent until they are rendered helpless.  You can also easily create a system where each wand can stand out and feel very different.  FATE Core is available from Drivethrurpg as a pay what you want.  You can also get the pdf for free at Evil Hat Productions' website, who are the ones who made the game.

I do in fact have a couple ideas on how to work in wands. Like, there's a wandmaker profession option. And depending on what type of wand you end up rolling will definitely affect skill bonuses. Naturally I would use canon to figure some things out, like some wands are better for transfiguration, while others actually tend towards the dark arts.

Are you setting it in present day? There is a game that takes place in present day where a tv show shows celebreties going through a dungeon someone set up. Sort of like wrestling meets D&D. I'm sure they probably have somethng similuar in the harry potter universe.
sounds cool , i would be interested  :)
