Roll20 as a single player platform

Hello First post and I have a very generic question and I'm I'm hoping more experienced users (that would be all of you!) could help me out. Has anyone used Roll20 to play out a module with out any players? You're playing GM and playing the party. A very close friend of mine who is moving out of the country has generously given me roughly 50 5e modules and I was thinking it would be neat to import all the maps into Roll20 and set up all the encounters in those modules and play them out. I'm assuming this can be done, but I was wondering which is the best way to handle this? If anyone has done this themselves I'd love to hear their experiences and tips/tools uses on how to do this. Thank you!

At a minimum, roll20 works no differently than your table top at home.  I'm not sure you'd get that much benefit from using Roll20 with just you, but if you want to do it, nothing will stop you. =D  You might even find that after you've run through all those modules, you might "reset" them and get some players and run them through it. Also, you could run those modules with you buddy that moved out of country.  =D

As far as other "single player" experiences in Roll20 goes, one of my current projects is creating a sort-of-port of  SugarCube , an interactive fiction story format. Instead of  Twine , the story would be written using handouts in Roll20.
I'll take a look at SugarCube a little more. Not really sure what it does at first glance, but that's probably because I'm all new to Roll20 Thank you

I heard of one person, a while ago, making a pick a path adventure with nothing but handouts but I lost contact with them almost a year ago so I don't know if they gave up on it or not.

Essentially, single-person text-only games. A digital "choose-your-own adventure" story, if you will. SugarCube is one of the available story formats supported by Twine.
Thank you! I'll definitley look into this once I get familiar with Roll20

D&D 5e normally is not played alone, it's usually a group game, at least 2 people (one DM who would be the one setting up the module, and at least one player who doesn't already know what's coming up ahead in the module).  There are other game systems besides D&D that are generally more suited or designed for solo play, or for GMless gaming. That said --- just setting up modules in Roll20 can be a fun solitary activity. Importing maps, setting up monsters, is time-consuming and can be entertaining.  Then if you wanted to "solo play" what you've set up, you could devise ways to do so. The monsters wouldn't be a surprise since you already set them up yourself, but you could still roll dice and attempt to solo play it. My recommendation would be, start spending time having fun setting up the modules in Roll20. This will get you understanding the Roll20 interface, and setting up is a form of "playing".  Then in the long run, decide if you might want to recruit and meet other players who would play with you (most likely with you being the GM since you set it up, and recruiting 1 or more players to play what you set up).
