Hey there, I have been reading the Pathfinder Ultimate Campaign Book and am really excited by it. I think the rules for kingdom building and such would fit wonderfully into a high level campaign. Not sure how many people are old enough to remember the old basic D&D champion rules, but these are even better in my opinion. A little about me... I have been gaming since 1977 on and off. I have GM'd a LOT, even at major conventions like GenCon, back when Living Greyhawk was still playing. I haven't been doing much GMing in Pathfinder, but have enough experience with 3.5 that I think I will be ok. I like games that involve politics and lots of interactions, as well as action and combat. My ideal game would be one with about a 50/50 mix. I am thinking of a pathfinder game, set in Forgotten Realms, with the party coming into power as rulers of a small, but independent city in the Giant's Plain region. Haven't gotten the background worked out completely, but there will likely be an adventure first where the party saves the town and then is invited to be its leader. At this point the party would take charge of the city, and start expanding a new kingdom with the city as the hub. All of this would be done using the kingdom building rules in the Ultimate Campaign book. What I need to know is if there are enough players interested in this kind of political / kingdom building game to get it off the ground. I would be willing to GM if noone wants that job, but would rather co-GM or play if that is a choice. I see the game going as follows if I am the one running it : first part of the session, people will fulfill their roles in the kingdom, events will be rolled for, the kingdom's business will be handled, etc. Then the second half the session, the party will deal with the events or uprisings or threats, or they can clear new land of monsters, or do some kind of short adventure. Hopefully this will keep the 50/50 mix I am looking for in the game. Since it is set in Forgotten Realms, in the rather tough area which is Giant's Plain, I think the party will be high level, by that I mean around 15th. With this kind of game though, the emphasis will definitely be on the roles in the kingdom and the kingdom itself, and not the "gee, look how tough my character is" factor. If you want to play a high level adventure game, this would NOT be for you. This game's main emphasis will be on the kingdom, not the characters themselves, like in traditional D&D. I know there is an AP out there, Kingmaker, that does something similar to this, but I do not own it. And, I am hoping to play it someday, so I am not really interested in running it without first playing it. So, in conclusion, if there is interest in this kind of kingdom building game, please PM or post here. What I am interested most in is what class you want to play, what role in the kingdom you want to fulfill, and whether you would be interested in GMing or coGMing the game with me. Thanks, Dan
