Childer

We need to decide on what to do with the childer we have in jail right now. They have been in prison for too long already. Thoughts? I would like this decided on before we get back into town again so it can be dealt with. If we keep them locked up for much longer we may be inviting a jail break.
Well, I am not certain what to do with them. Technically they acted as bandits when they attacked our group. While they were not targeting any of the Kingmakers themselves, they did target a follower of the party. Our original charter stated that bandits were to be dealt with if they did not repent their ways. And in fact, the first group of bandits we encountered consisted of Happs, Biggs, Louis, and Aleksander. Of the four, only Louis and Aleks repented their ways... and Happs, the leader, and Biggs his second-in-command I believe were hung and buried outside of Oleg's Outpost. Happs' gang were members of Kressel's gang that were located down south. I hired Louis and Aleks and during the months that followed, they showed they were on the road back to a more civilized and worthy path. When we met Kressel's gang later on, both Louis and Aleks requested that they not be forced to fight their former... not-so-much 'friends' but comrades. So after defeating Kressel, again we gave them the choice of repenting or facing punishment. Kressel was ... dealt with. Some of her followers did repent and are now followers of the Kingmakers... Duxhon, Fyra, I thought there was another but I can't recall the name offhand.  So, with these Childer of the Kame... I don't think Lillix is in the right frame of mind to know what she's doing. Again, I am not exactly sure what happened and whether she will ever move past whatever happened with Aleks. But what do we do? Exile her? Hang her? Let her go upon the condition that if she attacks Aleks or any of the party again, she will be met with deadly force? As to the others... I guess since one of them is definitely a leader of the Childer... it's up to the rest of you. We can release him and let him know that the Kingmakers value everyone... even them, but if they continue to make difficulties for the Kingmakers of the citizens of the Marches, they will be dealt with soundly?  Any ideas?
R383K4H thinks that a trial should be held to determine guilt and punishment, although with eye-witnesses to the unprovoked assault, guilt is assured.   As for the members other than Lillix, perhaps time served, or some form of restitution.   Lillix is beyond reason and R383K4H believes that steps should be taken to eliminate the malfunction within her brain.  Perhaps through surgical correction.
However, Aleks doesn't want Lillix harmed... as I guess he thinks that she has been harmed enough in the past... whether he was the cause of her pain and anguish directly... or if it was others in the gang that did the actual harm. So, unless we find out exactly what happened as neither Lillix nor Aleks seems to be forthcoming... I really don't know what should be done. We know Aleks has repented as has been seen by his actions... however, are there crimes that can be considered as too severe that mere repentance is not going to be enough? I.E. Murder, rape, etc.  Aleks must have done something pretty bad if it drove Lillix insane and him into a depression where he wanted to leave his King... Just not sure... But then, we also have Duxhon, Fyra, that were also in the same gang... do they get judged and tried the same... and Louis who went north after he was released from service... such a dilemma.  Wish I knew if there were any 'historical stories' of Brevoy or any other kingdoms where a ruffian was able to cast off his evil ways and become a hero? Perhaps that would make Aleks seem a little less of an evil.
