As you are making camp, the hyenas spread to surround you to the north and the west, with the largest hyena and a couple of the giant hyenas camping with smaller ones near you. Ugh takes a single fallen hyena corpse and drags it to the largest hyena, offering him/her (it’s a her if anyone asks) the corpse first and then eats a single couple bits after the largest hyena leaving the rest for the other two. Smaller hyenas come over after to gnaw on remains pieces of meat. Ugh comes back the party a little sapped. He seems to be fidgeting slightly in the cold. A light snow comes down in the late spring cold, although it seems like nothing compared to the cold of the tower. He seems earnestly happy out here in the cold mountain air, and the thing he seems to dislike the most is the chain shirt he’s wearing. Nuggle, Dennis, Golsteer, Reeta, and Gillia Make camp. Nuggle talks about how amazing all of you were and practices reciting your amazing tales over and over, working on his language and descriptions. At one point it involves half-devil turning half the mountainside to a volcano while singing-knife-ears fended off a horde of giant hyenas with his blade and dragon-man flinging orbs of soul-eating destruction at their foes until the submitted to their will. Oh, and giant guy did some hooba-jube and can speak with animals. The party made camp for the night with Bardman taking first watch. The hyenas spread out in small groups with a large hyena and smaller hyenas in a semi-circle around the party. The sky had 50% cloud cover, but with a bright gibbous moon leaving parts of the night with a relatively bright light illuminating the snowy landscape, and then moments of darkness. A moment of brightness revealed some of the outlying group of hyenas had moved off. Then: Off in the distant were hyena howls and later wolf howls. Some of the party awoke Hobgoblins came towards them Rest of the party awoke When they got near the party, Helios and Bardman surprised the hobgoblins who were fleeing south with arrows in their back. Nikon jumped in by breathing a lightning bolt. The party defeated the hobgoblins, freeing a silver dragon wyrmling who would only say “Gleep”. They convinced the creature not to attack, Bardman discovered through mind reading it could speak draconic but simply chose not to. The silver dragon wyrmling has a muzzle, it claws at it furiously. To the others, it looks frantic for a minute but then it turns to face the party and it looks more friendly with big bright eyes. It’s wings are relaxed and dangling at its side, then the ends start to flutter and shake in a way that seems friendly. You all calms for a split second, maybe it’s okay. Nikon sees something else. The scales on the back of it’s neck stand up, this is to allow better feeling so wind or movement from behind it are easier to sense, it’s in alert terrified mode. As soon as it claws the muzzle off its mouth, it is no longer squinting at the party, its brow unfurrows. To the wyrmling, it doesn’t needs to focus to use its cold (or paralyzing breath), instead it needs to know where the most danger is. Its eyes have widened, especially to the sides, to give it the most peripheral vision possible. This wyrmling is about to spew some kind of breath weapon on the entire party. Its wings are limp because it was just bound for who knows how long, so it is stretching out its wings to prepare for flight. This thing may or may not be able to kick your ass, but it IS going to try. One hobgoblin captain lept off a ledge into the icy waters to escape. Goblin and halfling wolf riders confronted the party, with the goblin captain, Captain Chilte, talking to the party. It turns out that they are members of a refugee squad of hunters who patrol the borderlands on the west side of the river to assist refugees and kill marauders who make it through from Corrive and Girkchar. They invited the group back to their camp where the party rested for the remainder of the night. In the morning, the party got up and spoke with the other captains, Captain Detgrean Darkbender (dwarf) and Captain Jonas Haugan (human). They talked to various people in the small camp as they were preparing to move their camp. Dennis and Golsteer decided to stay with the refugee war-band, Golsteer to stay and help ex-slaves, Dennis met a couple of elves and decided that after dying once with the party he would throw his lot in with the refugees. The party moved on to Veg Vellum (? is that right?) with Gleep following them. They went into the village, full of refugees begging for change, and went into the nicest tavern to try and find a guide out of camp. The inn was called the Singing Shovel and the bartenders name was Thrargegaer Flinthorn. There was lots of magic in the tavern, with floating glasses and trays. The party never determined if the bartender was a mage or the tavern itself was enchanted. Helios chastised Nuggle for bragging about the party’s actions to everyone in the tavern. At some point the party asked for a guide, the bartender said something in dwarvish and one of the official plate-mail dressed men who had listened to Nuggle came over and said his cousin, Elstrelug Bottlehood, was a guide (actually a messenger but a member of the explorer’s caste none the less) and would escort the party out of town. After bardman performing an amazingly beautiful performance for the tavern, earning them free drinks, they met the gruff dwarf Elestrelug Bottlehood. Instead of gold, he said he would guide them for services to be determined in the future. They agreed and left town. Bardman handed out 20 gold to refugees on the way out of town. Addendum: Somewhere along the way, they notice Ugh's mood has been changing. He is reluctant to talk about it, something to do with his diety.
