LOCATION: A BOAT DATE/TIME: N/A CHARACTERS: Invidia, rest of GOTHS The choppy blades of the ragged airship cut the air and propelled the cramped group of adventurers forward. For a while, nothing else was heard beside the chugging of the arcano-motor and rushing wind. "Alright," Invidia sighed, "this is my stop." At the quizzical look from the others on the ship, he rolled his eyes before explaining. "We've been flying for what seems like forever and frankly, I'm tired of airships. We're not getting much done and I'd rather spend some time in a proper kitchen." "Wait," Janthir interjected, "I will leave along with you. There are other matters I have to attend to." Acknowledging the ranger with a nod, Invidia waved his hand at the general expanse of land below them. "There should be fine." The gnomes shrugged and began making the proper adjustments to their dials. After a few minutes of gentle descent, they landed in a small, well-light clearing. The sun had not yet reached its zenith for the day. Invidia hopped off the ship with a gigantic book on his back and gave a half-hearted wave to those remaining on the ship. Janthir departed in a more muted manner. The boat began to whirr back to life. Over the ever-increasing noise, the wizard gave a final goodbye to the group. "I would say I enjoyed my time, but then I would be lying to you!" he shouted. "Goodbye and good luck!" They watched as the airship rose up and began making its way towards the horizon. Soon, the tree canopy obscured the ship from vision, and not long after the sounds of nature reasserted itself over the mechanical ambiance that had been part of his life for much too long. The clearing was quite nice, Invidia mused. Some time to rest and relax would help determine his next moves. The forest hummed along to its own tune as Invidia sat down to enjoy a nice day with some cheese and a fine wine that Frusk had given him. He passed some to Janthir, who nodded in thanks before receiving the foodstuffs. The preceding weeks had been interesting in their own right, but the chef realized that something about exploration called to him. Perhaps it was the familiar scent of freshly rained earth or the whispers of half-forgotten secrets in the woods around him. Equally likely was the fact that he missed his old traveling companions. Invidia lay back and closed his eyes. The slow thrum of the world around him beckoned him forth. He smiled. "I think I'm ready for a new adventure," he thought as he lazily slid a piece of cheddar in his mouth. "But first, a nap." GOTHS is on hiatus until September.
