Adding "clickable" text to make rolls like 5e OGL sheet?

Curious if it's possible. I like how the 5e OGL sheet works, in that one can roll for monster attacks, but then click the weapon's name for damage if it hits, there by avoiding lots of clutter and confusion in the midst of battle. I'm looking to do something similiar, but I'm not sure if I need API to make that happen or not, or if macros alone can replicate such a thing. Any advice or links to guides would be greatly appericated.

You don't need the API, you just need ability or API command buttons (no sub required for either). <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Macros#Ability_Command_But" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Macros#Ability_Command_But</a>... <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/API:Chat#API_Command_Buttons" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/API:Chat#API_Command_Buttons</a>
