Some jobs suck. This one really bites. The year is 1998. Our story begins at a humble little mission in Mexico, where a group of people have been driven and flown in at the expense of their prospective employer. They come from all walks of life, but they all have two things in common - they're all Christian believers of the Catholic Church, and each share a very good reason for being here. They've come for a job interview of sorts, but their employer is a 700 year-old conspiracy within the heart of the Church that has staked and burned vampires since the middle ages. Vampires have been stalking the earth for as long as recorded history, and it is always only been the church that has stood in their way. The Society of Leopold operates at the expense of the Vatican and is administered out of Rome through a network consisting of teams of vampire slayers that operate in every country on the planet. Legendary vampire slayer of the Society and Gladius Dei badass Jack Crow has lost his team. Yet with the help of a faithful priest, a hooker, and the last surviving member of his old team, the 600 year-old vampire responsible - Jan Valek - has met the sun. Now the hooker Katrina and his old friend Montoya have turned to vampirism, and with the help of the priest Father Adam Guiteau, it is up to Jack to rebuild his team, then hunt down and kill his old friend. The girl too. It is here in Mexico that this group of strangers have been brought to join Team Crow and become Novices of the Society of Leopold. Admittedly there are some good reasons to join up; the pay is extravagant (with a bonus for each goon killed) and working for the Society may offer the opportunity for revenge, or even to serve God and the greater good in the highest way if that's your thing. But there are just as many other reasons not to do it, not the least of which is the statistical fact that killing vampires is the most dangerous job on the planet. While some of these people may have skills that make them useful to the Society (they wouldn't be here otherwise) they aren't action heroes. This is real life, with real consequences, and vampires are faster, stronger and have many powers that even the Society itself isn't fully cognizant of. But it has to be done. The enemy must be confronted. The second coming of Christ, the Parousia, is near, and the minions of Satan are marshalling the forces of darkness to prepare the earth for the coming of Antichrist. Vampires see human beings as cattle to be fed upon and pawns to be manipulated, but some are prepared to fight back. Team Crow has the endless funding and backing of the One True Church, a legacy of seven centuries of putting foot to undead ass, and the leadership of one of the greatest Gladius Dei knights to ever live. It's time to kill some f*****' vampires. What do you say, slayer? Out of Character Stake and Burn is a Vampire the Masquerade: 20th Anniversary game which also uses the 1995 supplement 'The Inquisition' released by White Wolf Publishing, exploring the lives of members of the Society of Leopold. The story is based on the major motion picture "John Carpenter's Vampires" and is meant to be played as a sequel to that film, and is also loosely based on the novel 'Vampire$' by John Steakley. Players who do not have the required materials for the game will be provided them. The following are the bare minimum qualifications for playing. Emotionally mature and at least eighteen years of age A working microphone and Twitch voice client Fluent in English Some basic experience with White Wolf games Interested parties should proceed to the game listing here . We have two players and are currently seeking up to three additional players for participation, for a final group size of up to five. Current scheduling for the meet and greet session is set for the 9th of July. This is subject to change. We have yet to decide if the game will take place from 10 AM to 2 PM or 5 PM to 9 PM (Pacific Time). Play time will be finalized by the group. Thanks for your consideration and happy gaming.
