No Google Hangouts button

I am on my game details page and there is a Join Game button, but no arrow next to it from which to choose play in google hangouts.
that ability was cancelled a few months ago due to an issue with the Hangouts new format and no longer allowing API scripts.
here's the blog post from earlier this year: http://blog.roll20.net/post/155682449580/google-hangouts-api

Just to refine the wording on that a bit, Google made the decision to no longer allow third party (ie: Roll20 and others) plugins in Google Hangouts.

I thought there was a workaround? There is one posted in the help section on playing with Hangouts. Yeah, this is what that blog post says: "Our Devs have worked to resolved this and currently, GMs can launch their game in Google Hangouts again. The changes on Google’s end have created a few caveats, 1) Hangouts will only work with users who have previously approved the Roll20 App within Google Hangouts and approved it for use. 2) all players must be logged in to their Roll20 account before launching Hangouts." I'm guessing I need to approve Roll20 within Hangouts but I don't know how to do that. EDIT: Nevermind, it also says: "If a new player tries to approve the Roll20 App within a Hangout, but has not done so before the recent changes, the Roll20 app will error out. The same is true if the user is not signed into their Roll20 account before joining the Hangout." I find it ridiculous that people who basically logged into this before these changes can still do this but I can't.

I don't believe it works for anyone anymore. I believe the restriction on new players was imposed at the point Google announced end of life for 3rd Party plugins.

The plugin system for Hangouts was ridiculously underutilized, which led to the feature being sunset. On the other hand, the person behind the dice rolling system in Hangouts wanted to base it on Roll20's dice engine, so there's that. =)
