Session 23

Today was all about combat. One single giant combat. That's why this recap will be short.  You won! Congratulations. See you next week, Andy Just joking, though the recap will be short because of the type of session we had. Our brave heroes entered the southern door after having rested in the secret passage. They took advantage of the long rest to reflect on their battles of the last several days. They considered all their training and each in his own way found new inner strength and abilities he didn't even know he had. (You leveled up) Proceeding into the southern room, our loyal companions knew what lie ahead. A room with an odd Aquarium/Terrarium awaited them, just as did the many strange creatures who made that room their home. I've always called it an upside down ziggurat from the time I played it back in the early '80's, though the text from WotC calls it Terraced Aquarium. You looked out and down from your vantage after having entered the room into an enormous chamber defined by terraced steps that ringed the entire area and descended toward a central enclosure. A few feet south of the door, water lapped at the edge of the stone floor. Looking to the side, you saw that the ring of the terrace that lies beyond was a ten-foot-deep ring of water held in by a nearly transparent wall. Another of these watery steps in the terrace was somewhat lower than the first; at the level in between these aquariums, the terrace steps were dry, but the area was still enclosed by a glassy wall like the others. The obviously insane and evil wizard Keraptis must have spent many long nights devising this hell for the party. To make it even more difficult to he filled each successive ring with giant creatures appropriate to each environment. The battle that ensued could have taken much longer, but you have a strong party. I Watched Adam Hoebel, Roll20's famous internet DM run this battle. To be fair they have a party of four, but they are 8th level. It took them two four hour sessions to finish the fight. I think you did very well comparatively. There was some good use of spells, if not a lot of strategy. Instead of holding a tight line, the party spread out and allowed the creatures to cut you off from one another. While Rook and Jabril are easy choices for MVP, Glanbir's long distance heal might have made the difference between victory and retreat.  XP: 2700 xp - 6 Giant Crayfish 4200 xp - 6 Giant Scorpians 2100 xp - Manticores 9000 xp Total divided by 6 = 1500 xp each Loot: Not today Inspiration: Mickey. I believe you used your inspiration during the fight. Please take another for portraying Rook much like Mike would have.  Jabri. I don't recall if you used your inspiration or not, but please take one for Jabril or Atlas. Your choice. You always give a unique flair to Jabril, today you turned the Korean Atlas into Steve the Croc Hunter.  Jon. Please start with an inspiration for what ever character you decide to introduce. Thank you for playing Glanbir to day.
Mike we missed you. Next session is when Rook meets his father. I hope you can make it. I don't want you to miss your own story arc.
thanks Andy yes i will be at next session   who played rook?  i want to thank them  missed everyone
I played rook again, I seem to be the designated team substitute at this point Had a blast! I might have to ask Andy if i can do up my own character once Curse of Strahd starts. Although there seems to be a missing player and thus available character every session

I'm kinda hoping my character gets killed because I didn't make them unique enough! If only I made an alcoholic halfling wrestler-monk who never wears a shirt, greases up his body before combat, and feels compelled to "wrastle" anyone taller than 6 foot in order to prove his worth to himself.
Don't forget to take the Tavern brawler feat, Dan. It would be perfect for your "Wrastler." :)
no recap from thyis week??
Hey Mike, This is my last day with my son, his flight if tomorrow morning, but he has to leave this afternoon to get to the city with the airport, I've been spending these last few days hanging out with him. After he's gone, I'll get back to the recap. Andy
Andy  no problem go with your son to the airport you should spend as much time as possible with your kids there comes a time that they dont want to spend time with you. i just thought with no recap that it was a tpk
Hopefully people show up this week.... the group has been as reliable as the wild magic chart lately.
Lol. All jokes aside, I do hope you can make it Mike. Of course we have less characters to play anyways now that you killed the cleric and Kamakazi Joe.
