Session 20 Recap Before leaving, Gillia talks to the refugees and relays the information back to the group. Some of the refugees have just recently made it through to Shevorth. Apparently, they were being sold from some pirates/marauders to Corrive when an insane gnome with a battleaxe attacked both the slavers and the buyers. They don’t know if she survived, but she killed a dozen warriors as they fled. As they were fleeing, they saw some humanoids wreathed in flames flying north towards Girkchar riding dragons. They think one was a man, and one a woman, but they aren’t sure. They heard of a Tiefling who could turn himself into the sun, a silver dragonborn who could breathe lightning, a giant-kin, and an androgynous elf who sings like the first winds of spring, who have been making their way across the lands. Some refugees on the front lines, many who were given coins be the elf have been paying homage to them and asking the gods for their return. The refugees also talk of the ice giants, something in between Frost giants and Goliaths, maybe a common link in between, who have become restless as of late. Talks of a Fire Giant set loose in Shevorth land seems to have violated some treated between Girkchar and the Ice Giants. They want the creature detained or exiled. There is a complicated relationship between the lands of the Ice Giants, Girkchar, Corrive, and Shevorth. The refugees hear rumors but none of them understand the nuances. The best they can figure, Corrive and Shevorth are at war, the Ice Giants and Girkchar are at war, Shevorth and the Ice Giants have a peace treaty, and everything else is unknown. Before leaving, Reeta talks to the monks and relays the information back to the group. Only 4 days in, the group has already made a name for themselves. Between Nuggle’s bragging and some work they did on the eastern front by the river, people are already starting to talk about them. Dispatching the orcs and elf didn’t help any desire for anonymity. Amin and her monks have already begun hearing stories. The elf’s (the people here have few elves so cannot reliably determine elf from half-elf any more than you can determine their squat humans from their dwarves) songs from the tavern in Veg Vellurv have spread far and wide as people try to copy his style. He has become popular overnight. Meanwhile, Helios has become a hero in his own right, as has the appearance of a silver dragonborn being followed by a silver wyrmling. They speak of others like Helios, those “cloaked in flame”, although apparently the one known nearby is a dwarf and not a Tiefling like Helios. It is said certain Ice Giants seek this Ugh who speaks with animals, ignores the cold and has sympathy for “the little people” [a reference to all humans and humanoids]. Helios asked if they heard any rumors about her and Gillia, she responded with “Not apparently.” Bardman made an insight check and realized she was lying. Reeta was covering up something. They spent 3 days traveling with Amin (AYE-MINE) and 6 other monks, along with the 20 refugees. Here are some of the things that happened: Helios learned from Amin of Nursar Cragheart (I’m changing his name), another phoenix sorcerer, a type of fire-wielding sorcerer that she referred to as “Masters of Isgunn”, meaning “Masters of Fire”. She knew his general whereabouts which was somewhere north of Rhoghnah. Bardman spent time with Cu, the dire wolf, as well as some time speaking with Amin. Ugh also spent time handing out with Cu. Nikon hung out with Gleep, calling him nearer to the party to feed him from time to time. Once they got within a day’s ride of Rhoghnah, they heard sounds of combat off in the near area, and Gleep was excitingly “Gleeping” to the north. They ran to the north, seeing two recently slain ogres, a “great ogre”, and 9 perytons. Helios blasted the bird creatures and the ogre with a fireball, while Nikon shot 2 or 3 of the perytons and the ogre with a lightning bolt while Ugh and Bardman laid some healing on the knight fighting the great ogre. Ugh also used wind wall to take out some more perytons while Helios flame blasted 2 of them. The perytons dive-bombed Helios, Ugh, and Bardman, missing bardman but killing Helios and taking down Ugh. While they finished up the rest, Bardman healed Ugh who ran over and used Revivify on Helios. The knight turned out to be a Shuror noble-woman and warrior, whose name I’ll put in the next pregame (following the prequel).
