[LFG] Brand new player eager for his first DnD 5E experience. (18+ Please).

Good day! I'm new to both roll20 and DnD. For DM's or groups who doesn't mind a rather vanilla character (and thanks to a kind soul helping me out with creating my first character sheet) what I can offer to your game is: Name : Garland Trueblade Race : Human Class : Fighter Age : Early 30's Alignment : Chaotic Good Archetype : Linebreaker; Armored Knight; Soldier; Typical Plate n' Mail bloke. Basic Info : A former sergeant of the king's army (depending on the world setting of the DM, which army he was part of is negotiable) who has fought on several campaigns until the death of his commander. The new commander was more of a fop instead of a battle-hardened warrior, and Garland made the mistake of getting riled up to the point of punching him on the face. Dishonored and decommissioned, but glad that he did Garland took up the life of adventuring. Going to where glory and gold takes him to be, but willingly still uphold his own values of conduct. As a run-of-the-mill force of good, Garland doesn't back down from a fight when tortured innocents are involved. Due to his impulsive nature however, this could normally put him in a bad spot. This is prevalent in his fighting style, as he eschews a shield in favor for a greatsword and/or maul. Literally thinks he can tank things with his face. Personality Quirk : Almost always never seen without his visored barbute on. (Picture for ref). He eats and sleeps with it, also gets annoyed if someone tries to take it off without his permission. This could lead to some comical/awkward moments. (He swears he's not hiding a tentacled aberration inside it!). Player Information Name: Gavin Age: 28 DnD 5e Experience: None. Eager to learn. Only ever made that character sheet above and that's it. (Of course that's the summary, I have an actual physical and digital copy of the sheet saved). Other roleplaying experience: Lots. Mostly text RP, but never something like DnD. What I'm looking for: Roleplay aspect. Character-building. A fancy good time. A group who enjoys progressive team-building, and generally just enjoy fun. What I normally enjoy playing as: Vanilla-ish, run-of-the-mill characters with quirky personal characteristics that makes them slightly stand apart from their peers, and zero-to-hero storylines. Disclaimer (Why 18+?) I enjoy playing with like-minded adults. Personal experience prevents me from going to all-ages groups in tabletop games again. *shudders* Why are you still reading this? Sign me up for greatness! Pick me, pick me!
Hey Garland- I'm in the UK too. This might interest you as a beginner! https://app.roll20.net/join/2466612/Mhrv1A I'm running a 'text only' session tomorrow evening to help show people how to play D&D and use roll20! Please note... it's not a full campaign.
Hi, I've just started a 5e homebrew campaign that's UK based and very friendly to new players - we have 4 x UK peoples and a couple of Americans thrown in! We've only played a couple of sessions so we're only just level two - but our current fighter had to drop out - have a look at the below and see if you fancy giving it a go? https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/2374556 Thanks Anthony
Hello you two, thank you for having me! Yes, I'll be checking both games in. Definitely excited! Also, I'm not sure which part of my thread says that I'm from the UK. :P

Oh Sorry - I think I'd replied to two posts in quick succession. I must have seen it on someone else's and got mixed up.... - or alternatively.... if you are in fact from the UK..... WOoooOO! I have magic psychic abilities! WoooOOo EDIT: Also... how does your guy eat? If he doesn't take his hat off?
No problem! Also, I'm Chinese living in Indonesia (GMT+7) and I have odd sleeping times, so when I checked both linked 'games' the hours fit me just right. Both my parents are English educated. Pa got his medical license from London, so his first son had to have an English-sounding name because of it. :P Okay! The visor-face-plate on his barbute-style helmet is openable like a flap. So whenever he wishes to, he could open the flap to either speak or eat. However, for reasons he refuses to disclose (unless to a close friend) he keeps that flap closed whenever he encounters strangers/new people. So yes, when he eats too. He got so used to eating with his helmet on (by sliding the food below the loosened flap so quickly due to sleight of hand) it creates the illusion that he eats through his helmet. Because of this, he almost always orders solid food when dining in front of strangers. Only those with keen eyes can spot what he's doing. Attempts to try and yank his helmet off while he eats have been met with either a friendly thwack or a solid backhand depending on how forceful the person is. The visor-flap isn't flimsy due to this mechanism. When closed, the hinge can be slightly lifted upwards to create a small 'gap' where the flap can be pushed down slightly to fasten the face-flap in place. It's a standard enclosed helmet with slight adjustments made to it.
Bump. Still looking!
"Good day", and "A fancy good time" seemed to indicate UK. Well met. cool character.
Well, met! Apologies, it's just the version of English I'm used to while growing up!
