Chronicles of Darkness – Crossover Chronicles: Unfamiliar
Sky. New Players Welcome! We live our days completely ignorant of the true
terrors lurking around us. Only rarely do our experiences draw back the veil of
shadows and reveal the horror in our midst. These glimpses into the
supernatural can cause us to retreat into comforting lies - 'There are no such
things as monsters' - or stir our morbid curiosity. Only a few, however, can
overcome their fear and dare to look deeper.
General
Information
About
Me:
My name is Volke, I'm 21, university student, and I love to tell stories about the Chronicles of Darkness,
having run two campaigns now. With that said, I still feel I am an
inexperienced Storyteller and I am prepared to make mistakes, but I will do my
best to provide a quality and excellent experience. And I am willing and
hopeful to take on people who have little experience with the Chronicles of
Darkness if needed. All I ask is that
you are willing to work and communicate with me :) .
About
the Game: The
game is a Crossover story taking in multiple splats and various aspects of the
World of Darkness and creating an ecosystem out of it. For the most part; while
the RP is serious, we also joke around, and we want others to joke with
us. While the campaign and RP is the
priority; we also want to have a good time!
The story structure is built with both linear and sandbox elements,
meaning that the campaign is mostly based on the decision of the PCs, but the
world around them continues to move forward without them as well. There is an
ending to the universe as a whole; but in general, there is no set ending – people
play until they lose interest/real life intervenes.
Game
Setting:
The setting for the game is the 21 st century. The campaign will
begin in April 4 th , 2017 in Manchester, United Kingdom. The world
has an almost identical history to ours except
for slight variations. Within the world also exists the ability to connect to
the Primordial Realm, Astral Realm the Inner Soul, the Underworld, the Hedge,
and so much more! The story is dark and grim with various shades of grey.
Crossover
Elements : Currently, the Crossover includes most if not
all of the various types of supernaturals within the CofD Universe (Including Vampires,
Werewolf, Mage, Promethean, Sin-Eater, Unchained, Beast, Changeling, Mummies,
and many others). There may also be a variety of Minor Playable Splats along
with the potential for specific Fansplats if requested (particularly Princess
the Hopeful, Genius the Transgression, and Parasyte the Pathogen, though there
is no guarantee on how heavy these story elements will be).
Game
System : The game uses 2nd Edition books, rules and
mechanics when available, otherwise we will use slightly altered rulesets for
the various WOD games. There will be some homebrew rules/templates included as
well for balancing/1E elements. Some things in the system will be substituted
such as the Social Maneuvering and elements from the Investigation mechanics.
Ask on a need to know basis.
Playtime & Timezones: I assume we will often end up playing late nights EST varying
from probably 7/8pm EST to 12am/1am EST (One
of our players is from UK and we accommodate for this). I accommodate for real life priorities (as
real life takes priority over the game), however we expect notice if unable to
attend. My intention is to have at least a weekly game session, though I would
prefer biweekly if possible to do. I have found that any more than that leaves
people drained. Regardless, I am looking for people who can find time to commit
and play and deal with a changing schedule. Organizing across various time zones
will be done through online time organizational applications. Regardless, I
will have the times in Roll 20 set to EST so it should set automatically to
your various clocks.
New
Players welcomed and encouraged! – I love new players! I love
new players and love showing them the ropes. I will assist you in whatever way
I can necessary. My only dislike towards player types are ones that attempt to
use their rules to their advantage at every opportunity or refuse to
communicate their wants and desires and are unacceptable to listen to respect
my wishes should I decline it . Should you be capable of this – I encourage
you to send a PM :) . Additional Information
Respect
of players and GM is a priority - No verbal abuse, or
harassment will be tolerated.
If you are
uncomfortable, speak up immediately. - If
at any time throughout the campaign, a scene or situations comes up that you
are uncomfortable with, please voice yourself immediately. There are also systems which are in place
that can allow you to express your comfortability if needed.
Rules are up for
discussion - If there is a table conflict due to the rules, we will
spend no more than 2 minutes to come to a decision, if the conflict cannot be
resolved by than, a note will be made and research on the subject will happen
after the game is complete. The in-game situation will operate accordingly.
Roleplay
is the priority but keep fun in mind. - There will be combat and
other challenges as well but the roleplay and narrative is the key. I am
looking for players who wish to use tabletop roleplay and immerse themselves
within the world. Every action: combat, skill, or conversation is expected to
be roleplayed out. When rules and roleplay interfere, roleplay will win. With that said, roleplay is the priority –
but be prepared for a bit of OOC banter as well.
Both Text and Voice RP will be
required & encouraged. - Text RP will be used to not interrupt people who
are talking in a scene to prevent chaos as well as to engage in RP before, and
after sessions. Discord is required for organization along with a Mic for vocal
communication.Your decisions should all be based on
your character's decisions. - As roleplay is a priority, your character's wants
should be their wants (not your own!).
Discord is required – Sessions will be done through Discord Voice
Chat (No Video Chat or the like). Make sure you can download the program. There
are also various chat rooms where you will be required to communicate with
myself and the others outside of the game for organization and the like.
There will be mature
content & themes - The age requirement is 18+ due to the themes presented. Character Creation Rules
Starting Template is Negotiable – Whatever
splat you wish to play is negotiable. I may request certain things and have
some concerns, but so long as there is communication; we should be able to
compromise. You can play anything from a Vampire, Human, Skin Changer, or
anything in between so long as the above is communicated with me.
The character you create however must abide by a few rules to
prevent the party from tearing itself apart:
- Your character must be believable . They must have a conceivable personality,
a defjned appearance, and
a background that includes family and friends, successes and failures. This means things such as roleplaying flaws, and
real relationships. This also means no min-max characters.
- Your character must fit into the party and the setting . This means
that they need to fit the setting, and fit the needs of the party. This means
that you cannot have a character whose specific determination is to bring the
party to its knees for example. This however does not mean you cannot be
antagonistic as group conflict is certain to happen; so long as the characters
are not created with the intention to doom the party. By this extension: this
means no Chaotic characters;
- The character must be generally willing to work with others. While
you can do things alone, and there may be solo scenes/text rp behind the lines;
75% of the game should be done as a party. You can play an isolated shy character,
so long as they are willing to work with others for their common goals.
- Your character must be entertaining to play as and bring something
unique to the group. How do I apply to
join the campaign?
To apply
to the campaign, please send me a private message either through Discord
(preferable) or Roll20 PM system with the following information:
Note: The applications are
expected to be filled out with respectable amount of information. I am
determined to have people who are committed, and wish to tell/experience a
story. I expect a somewhat cohesive backstory, and description of your
character . I also request that
applicants fill out a "Social Contract" of sorts (Information below!)
to see if the goals of this campaign and my GM style, links with your own
desires.
Name: (This means your Real-Life name/whatever
you would like to be addressed as)
Age: (This is your Real-Life age; I do not
discriminate on age, and your information will be kept private from other
players. This is for my ears only)
Player Motivation: (This means what style you as
an Rper distinguish yourself as. I will leave information about Player
Motivation below additional information)
Why do you want to join this campaign? (Why do
you feel that you are a good fit for this group? What can you bring to the
group in terms of Roleplay?)
Background/Character Information/Character Concept: (Rough backstory, doesn't need to be
super in-depth - however I expect there to be a cohesive storyline of who your
character is, where he works, etc. More information is always better)
Additional Information: If you have any
additional information that I should know, please leave it here. Social
Contract Questions A social contract for a role-playing game group
is a formally or informally defined agreement or understanding between all
players concerning the way the game will be conducted. The Questions for the
social contract are posted below.
Are you
capable of playing weekly minimum, biweekly preferable on multiple nights?
Various people have shifting schedules and sudden occurrences which may require
a different day instead. Would you say your schedule is busy or open?
What do you feel should be allowed/not allowed
in table discussions? How much banter should be tolerated?
Where do
you draw the line in terms of dark RP? Murder, Rape, Abuse, Child Torture? Is
there any line in the sand that would make you, the player uncomfortable?
What is
the expectation of character death? Under what circumstances can it happen/not
happen?
What is your expectation of myself as a
storyteller? From what I’ve stated above or already, do you have any concerns? Is it okay for PCs to be comfortable being competitive with each other? To what
extent is this okay/not okay? (Examples like PCs killing each other, PCs setting
each other up for traps, etc.) Do you feel betrayal is appropriate? If so in
what circumstances?
What are
your wants and desires within the campaign?
How many
hours would you like to play in a single session? (Assuming we start at 7PM
EST)
If there
is an argument at the table how should we solve it? Example: Stop the game till
the problem is solved)
If the GM
and a player disagree – what is the best way to solve this dispute?
How long
would you like this campaign to go on for/how long can you commit to it?
To what
extent do you believe rule-lawyering should be allowed during game?
In case
of scenes with mechanics: Do you feel it is appropriate for players to talk and
give advice when someone Is making a decision during a scene?
How
should we handle players who are late/cannot make a session?
Do you
enjoy creating content outside of the game in regards to your character? This
includes journal entries, video diaries, backstories, etc.
Should a
TPK (Total Party Kill) be allowed and under what circumstances? Contact Information If you have any questions, comments or concern, Add
me on Discord (preferred) or send a private message on Roll20. My Discord
username is Volke#6663 . If you have sent an application to
me before: you may send another one.
