Using the dynamic lighting layer to open doors

I figured out a way to let player open doors on the dynamic lighting layer and was wondering - does anyone do it this way? Or is there is a better way to do this?

Goal: I wanted to let the players move their own tokens but not move through walls or closed doors, so I enabled "Dynamic Lighting" and "Restrict Movement."

So far so good, but now they can't move their characters through closed doors. So when they open a door, I go to the dynamic lighting layer, right click the dynamic lighting for the door, click "Layer" and send it to the GM Layer. Now the player can see and move through the "open" door. This workflow is satisfactory.

However, now "closing" the door is a little cumbersome. It involves going to the GM Layer, selecting the line that previously represented the door in the Dynamic Lighting Layer, copying it, deleting it, now going back to the dynamic lighting layer, and pasting it back into place.

What do you think?

I just drag the "door" out of the way, leaving it in the layer to be moved back into place when it is closed.

Hmm, but then is there a way to drag it back to exactly the right spot? If you don't get it exactly right, then light leaks around it...

I wish there was a way to send things from the GM layer back to the dynamic lighting layer as that would seem to solve the problem, but I don't think there is.

You can't send things back without the API, pro level perk.

You might be able to group it with a token that you can use as a handle to move it...  I use oversized rectangles for doors so that they can overlap a bit.
