Our schedules are weird, and are trying to play of Wednesdays and Thursday from 5-7 PM EST. Yes, two short sessions a week, on weekdays, right smackdab in the middle of the day. About the game: Adventures in Middle-earth is a 5E OGL campaign setting created by Cubicle7, based on their The One Ring RPG. It is set in Wilderland after the events of the Hobbit, the perfect place and time to set adventures that won't upset the established timeline of The Lord of the Rings. Here is a link to their website so you may purchase the rules yourself. http://cubicle7.co.uk/our-games/adventures-in-midd... Here's what I love about the game: the character races and classes are, generally speaking, not magical, or at least low-magic, completely in line with the world Tolkien set up. (In my game there will be, however, potential to learn magic spells from say, wizards and other Maiar.) I also love the Shadow Point system. Doing evil deeds, witnessing horrors, and traveling through cursed lands can cause you to accumulate Shadow Points. If you collect too many, the Loremaster (DM/GM) can take control of your character in a bout of madness - think Boromir at the end of Fellowship. Continue on this path, and your character will slowly become more wicked and eventually will become unplayable as you succumb to the Shadow. About me: I am a new DM to Roll20. I have never used Roll20 before as player or DM. In person, I have DMed adventures in 4E and 5E, as well as Tales from the Wild Blue Yonder (aka Lady Blackbird). I am interested in starting a homebrew Fate world, but did not want that to also be my first experience with Roll20. I have not played tabletop games as much as I would like, because being a parent and a working adult limits what you have time for - thus why I am turning to Roll20. However, I believe I have learned a lot about DMing, from listening to roleplaying podcasts, that have shown me many radically different GMing styles and playstyles. I am a DM who would like to build a story around rich, complex PCs, rather than dropping your unique characters into a prewritten adventure (although, if thats what we have to do to get the ball rolling, we will). I value player input, group storytelling, and, of course, roleplaying. Also, it should be mentioned, that I have a deep love for Middle-earth. Before I was introduced to Adventures in Middle-earth, I had been working on reading and notetaking on all of the Middle-earth canon in order to create a 5E homebrew setting for the 4th Age of Middle-earth. Now, I would rather use this great game (though I may choose to make changes to the races), and, maybe, if we play long enough, we will make it into the 4th Age and can escape the restraints of the canonical timeline. Players: Players do not need to be experts in Middle-earth. However, I do want players who respect the material, and understand, at least, what is in keeping with the setting. To understand, you at least need to read the Player's Handbook for the setting, but, in short, it is not meant for murder-hobos. I am looking for players who want to tell great stories, who want to develop rich characters, and who want to work with other players and me, the Loremaster, to make the experience as fun and fulfilling as possible for everyone involved. If you like to play characters who have no backstory, if you want to play a game where you move from combat to combat collecting gold and magic items, or if you are the type of player who is only worried about making his character be the most awesome character at the expense of the other players and the story we are trying to collectively tell, this is not the game for you. Please let me know here and/or on the LFG listing if you are interested and able to play. Also, if anyone has advice for a new Roll20 GM - technical aspects, rules for sharing documents, tips, etc., feel free to post here. Thanks, Ben.
