Session 10 Log: Sunday Sep 17, 2017

As Steve's unconscious body hit the floor his part turned to see that the dwarf that had just passed them had since transformed into the horrific natural form of a doppleganger. A fierce battle ensued against the doppleganger, a hobgolbin, and King Grol & his pet wolf Snarl. The heroes emerged victorious – though Handsy was slain – and Rolen now wears Grol's crude crown as a trophy. Investigating the room from which Grol emerged they find the true Gundren Rockseeker unconscious and badly wounded. A revived Steve uses the pause in hostilities to once again attempt to cleanse the shrine that was once pledge to Oghma, the Lord of Knowledge. He eventually succeeds and is rewarded with the opportunity to ask any question of the god and receive the true answer. Steve asks the god for the knowledge of the location of the lost mine of Phandelver – now known as Wave Echo Cave – and is granted this insight. Minutes later the revived dwarf Gundren Rockseeker mutters something about having his map taken from him; searching Grol's quarters reveals the map, which also leads to Wave Echo Cave. The party rummages through the pockets of their slain foes and also finds a carefully hidden chest in the room that once housed the captive owlbear. From all of this they find: 80 gold, 220 silver, 3x potions of healing, and the map to Wave Echo Cave (under King Grol's mattress) 163 gold, 1x potion of healing, scroll of silence, scroll of revivify (inside chest in owlbear room) 4 gold, 31 silver, 82 copper (amongst the corpses of your foes) Finding themselves quite low on resources, the party decides to make camp in King Grol's quarters and barricade both entrances. That night they are awoken as noises approach and eventually enter the castle. Some recon work by Rolen & Granny reveals that a warband has returned from their hunt and has discovered them. Their leader, Targor Bloodsword, bellows threats from just outside their barricaded door – and that is where we'll pick up next week!
Steve : "Hey guys! I just did this elaborate ritual to talk to the God of Knowledge, and he told me where the lost mine is!" Party : *holds up map showing the way to the lost mine*
That whole effing shrine thing was for nothing.  What a waste of time.  Thanks Steve.
All I can think of is other useful things I could have learned , like a new spell, or who/what's in there?
Also, while no one really did anything too great, I'll throw an MVP vote to Zigmundo for figuring out a way to not get hit so much in a real throwdown.  (although I don't thin the assumption should be that enemies always hit the ghosts, maybe the chance of hitting the real Ziggy increases as mirrors are eliminated?)
maybe the chance of hitting the real Ziggy increases as mirrors are eliminated? That is already how the spell is built.
I agree that no one really did any MVP worthy things this week.  I would say that it sucks to not have an inspiration point, but, its not like they get used anyway.....  :-D
Well said Hillers.  Your comment shows you did absolutely no research before posting.  We expect nothing less :).   MVP to Rolen for the Web Wraps.
I would like to put my name in for a potion of healing please.
As far as money, let's divide it up evenly.  Each character can add the following to their sheet: Gold - 41 each (this leaves 1GP unclaimed) Silver - 41 each (5 SP leftover) Copper - 13 each (4 CP leftover)
Division of loot depends on whether nor not we agree that Ziggy gets to inscribe those spells into his spell book or not (at the cost of I think 200g total).  Way to pay no attention to that fact the 4 times you were told it Merrill, we expected so much more...
Where was I told that 4 times?  I don't see it in the thread. Couldn't we just divide it up and then each loan him the money?
You wanna keep track of that shit? Be my guest. Its a testament only to laziness that the demonstrably least interested person in details and math is treasurer for this escapade in the first place.
Turns out Silence (Bard, Cleric, Ranger) nor Revivify (Cleric, Paladin) are on the Wizard's spell list, so Zig can't actually use the scrolls :'( But on the plus side, I just saved us 200g ;) Granny can use the Revivify scroll (though until she reaches level 9 will only have a 50% chance of successfully casting it lol). We could just sell the scroll of silence, it's kind of situational anyway. I have a couple of MVP nominations: - Steve for roleplaying out the ritual very well (and in a vacuum his question made sense - he didn't know we were about to discover the map :P) - Zig for his very cinematic B storyline with the wolf, the way it circled around him and kept lunging only to be repelled. Great stuff. - Garad for being willing to take a chance on Granny's crazy plan to trip the doppleganger into the brazier, and for his stalwart defense of the middle ground (the most strategic part of any battleground, as we've all learned from chess :P) - Recto for scrambling to Zig's aid and totally wrecking that wolf in one round XD But my vote goes to Rolen for being very engaged this session, making sound tactical decisions and working with other players to get through the combat. Also a fan of his rat-recon.

BTW I added 41gp, 41sp and 13cp to Granny's sheet - cheers for doing the maths for us Merrill ^_^
Speaking of scrolls though, I was reading back through the old posts to see if I missed any other gold distributions that I should've added to my character sheet and noticed this: &gt;&nbsp;Granny - 1 healing potion, one scroll of charm, one scroll of fireball (as a memento of when she set fire to a whole dungeon, and many of its inhabitants) (see&nbsp; <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/5396180/" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/5396180/</a>) Did Granny take those scrolls of Charm Person and Fireball? Cause those are both definitely Wizard spells and should be given to Zigmundo XD Sorry, I clearly wasn't paying attention at the time :P Reminder: if the spell on a scroll isn't on your class's spell list, you cannot use the scroll.
Second on Rolen for MVP.
