In the last episode of the Yawning Portals, our group reached a corridor lined with marble statues leading to a pit of spikes that blocked the entry way to a chamber beyond, from here they investigated, discovering a secret door that lead into the chamber. And it was in this chamber they experienced their first encounter with a beholder, a spectator specifically known as a lesser beholder. As the battle waged on for our adventurers, the combat stirred the slumber of what they later learned was a dragon priest turned troll. The troll rose to confront our adventurers shouting “blod am gave zo overin dod” in the giant tongue, it was clear this troll had withered and was weakened from its long slumber. With calculated strikes and heavy swings, the spectator fell as did the weakened troll and after a brief investigation of the chamber which yielded scrolls, coin, jewelry and a ritual knife, the group moved on and continued north through the Citadel. Eventually stumbling upon three cultists who seemed to prostrate towards a dragon sculpted fixture overlooking an empty, dusty fountain. Upon speaking the draconic words etched into its base, it poured forth a brilliant vermillion coloured liquid that, when drank, granted the imbiber fire breathing. From this feat, in addition to charismatically clever convincing, the group was able to persuade the cultists that Nikael was the chosen of the dragon whom they sought blessing from. As a result, the cultists seemed agreeable to assist however they could. Our adventurers' navigation soon brought them towards a room west of the fountain and after disabling the blade mechanism in the door way, they made their way into a room of multiple sarcophagi where the grinding of stone and rattle of bones could be heard within...
