Lots of information on the map

Hey, I'd like to make information-texts about specific places on the map easily accessable for the players without using too much space on the map.  For example:  x Town of Crapington - Tavern "Three Old Hags" -- run by your friend Magda - House of Conserd -- has a magical trinket for sale (In Onenote, you can collapse this kind of information to save space) How would you do that? Maybe by placing tokens on the map which can be opened and read by the players? I'm new to roll20.

I'd create a character named Note and give it an ability as a token action named Note with this in it: &{template:default}{{name=Note}}{{=@{selected|bar1} }} Then I'd give it control for all players and put tokens representing it on the map.  Place the information you want displayed in their bar1 slot (copy paste from elsewhere is easiest), and when the players select the token, you will have the token action button at the top of the screen which they can click to get the note information in the chat.
Thanks!  I haven't been able to paste more than one line into bar1. Is there a way to do so?

Hmm. Possibly by hitting shift-enter?

Unfortunately line breaks can't be entered into the bars directly. You may have some luck with html encoding the line break
So one thing you could do is place a token for each place.  So the PCs will see the name Three Old Hags  in your example. Give the PCs access to a macro called Information or something.  The macro would be: &{template:default}{{name=@{target|merchant|bar1|max} }} @{target|merchant|bar2|max} In the second box (max) for bar1 put the name again:   Three Old Hags In the second box (max) for bar2 you can put your information.  You have to play around a little with the info so in your example you could put: {{Notes=run by your friend Magda}} {{& nbsp;=House of Conserd}} {{& nbsp;& nbsp;=has a magical trinket for sale}} In any consecutive note lines, you have to keep adding a  & nbsp; before the = sign.  NOTE:  Don't put a space after the & symbol.  I had to do that to make it show up. It took me a while to figure this one out.

I posted this as part of another answer yesterday: You can place it into a roll template for better formatting. Here’s an example with the shaped sheet: /w gm &{template:5e-shaped} {{title=@{selected|token_name}}}{{text=@{selected|bar1}}} The results will be much more readable, depending on your roll template. Here is the same example with the default template, which doesn’t have as many formatting options: /w gm &{template:default} {{name=@{selected|token_name}}}{{note:@{selected|bar1}}}

If you use API Command Buttons, you can load in line breaks using whatever HTML encoding you want. I like
 since it makes it easy on my head. Then you can also load this whole thing inside a Token Bar and extract it with "@{selected|bar1}" /w gm &{template:default}{{name=@{selected|token_name} }} {{Places=[Three Hags](!
/w gm Stuff, some other stuff.
/w gm Something else important. Some stuff.)
[Constabulary](!
/w gm The cops here are corrupt and lazy.) }}
