Question about being booted from a game.

I recently requested to join a game and thankfully was allowed to join.  This was 3 weeks ago and the new game wouldn't be starting till Oct 2.  As of today I spent an hour creating the kind of character I wanted, and then went online to put it in the game.  Apparently I was kicked out of the game, and it hadn't even started.  No cross words ever occurred, and I'm at a loss to see why this happened.  I understand internet anonymity can make some people royal pricks, but I still expected some decorum with fellow players.  Is that a normal practice on Roll20?
Everyone is different and everywhere you will meet every kind of person. Best you can do is write to the GM and ask why this happened and move on with your life.
It could be the whole game was cancelled.
Yeah, it's not a common occurence, but it does happen.  As Rabulias mentioned, it might be more likely the GM ghosted EVERYONE instead of just removing you, this is more common than it should be, even if rare. This hobby, as amazing as it is, does sometimes attract people with less than desirable social skills, and their anxieties can override common curteousy.  Sadly, your best bet is to just send the GM an inquiry, but he probably won't respond, so then you just have to move on :( Sorry and good luck
In my experience this isn't normal, however I did have one guy say he was going to miss a session due to some surgery, then never showed up again. I don't mind to much if you quit my game or boot me. However some kind of notice would be nice to know your okay.
I'm sorry this happened to you, Andrew. It just happened to me today. I am hugely disappointed. The day before our first scheduled game, our GM simply deleted his account [along with all our player-created assets], right after I sent an "Excited for Tomorrow" forum post to everyone. It's got me thinking about what we could ask the Roll20 Dev team to build into the system to make it less painful for players affected by GM Dropouts. If the GM (or Roll20) had alerted us to the deletion, I could have used my character vault to pull out my character, and copy/paste out my system macros and some handout material that I spent hours writing up. It all feels like a significant loss to me. Maybe if there was an alert about the deletion or a feature that automatically Transmogrifies certain content out of games when a Creator deletes it (like characters they control, or the content of handouts they have rights to edit, etc). I shall now review the Suggestion Forums for this sort of topic, in sadness and with quite a bit of disgust directed at a user who called himself Avatar of Death . Bummer.
