The Sunless Citadel pt 10 : Perilous Literature Perusals

In the last episode, our heroes found themselves in a thorny situation. Twig Blights,Vine Blights and Thorn Blights surrounded and advanced upon them. While the situation seemed dire, quick thinking and battle acumen prevailed and our heroes managed to take the shears to the overgrown plants. As our adventurers continued on, they found themselves in a room with another dragon statue. Nikael informed everyone what the inscription was in common. Tarkan decided to try and shine some light on the situation. Using the power of Talos, he illuminated the statue and while in shone for a dazzling moment, the light faded and the statue remained inert. Nikael then decided to stand in front of the statue and read the draconic script out loud. Ghostly flames spewed forth, surrounding his figure before dissipating and leaving him virtually unmarked. The blessing Nikael received seem to make him much more persuasive than usual. The next room was much smaller but was completely filled with tomes and scrolls. Tarkan searched for any religious texts or relics but nothing piqued his interest. Faelon did not manage to find much more aside from a few volumes of antiquated writings. The next obstacle our adventurers faced was a locked room. After a moment of investigation and some deft fingers, they were able to open the door and proceed in to the room. Faelon noted that the room was also littered with books. As he perused the shelves, one book in particular caught Nikael attention. Curious as to the contents both Faelon and Nikael placed the tome on to the desk in the middle of the room before inspecting it. Unfortunately the book was filled with nothing but a glyph of warding which detonated with glacial energy. The explosion nearly brought both of the elves to deaths door. As for the goblin cowering in corner no one had paid much mind to, the blast was enough to turn it into a goblin popsicle. After a short rest to tend to their wounds, the party continued further. They witnessed a strange sight. Sickly twisted trees seem to claw out of the ground. Taking advantage of the cover, our heroes happened upon Belak and his companions. The mad druid revealed his plan for plant-life dominance on the surface world and that was enough to cause our adventurers to rapidly descend upon the trio. Overcoming them before the trio had time to do too much damage, Borgen was gifted the sword as repayment for his axe being destroyed by Sir Braford. Our heroes finally discovered the ruby red fruit as the proceeded into the next room. The fruit sat at the base of a massive, horrifyingly hideous tree. Before any of them could pick the ruby fruit up, roots seemed to sprout from the base of the tree like limbs and the tree appeared to come to life... What fate lies in store for our heroes? Only time will tell...
Awesome!
