Legends of the Five Rings interest check 4th ed

I am looking to run a 4th edition LFR in 2018 ( Pacific Time Zone) I was wondering are there any current 4th ed games being played that has room for me to watch or even participate for a brief period?  I promise I am not looking to recruit from anyone's game.  I am just looking to see how others are running the game and possibly play as well.  I love to ropleplay.  If there isn't any, or no one wishes to allow me to watch or join I do understand.   It's not as important as what follows. I am looking, outside  other's games for those interested in playing a text only game (which we'll help keep the surrealism of the game), to allow people who might have a speech or hearing disability to join my games (or no voice or video chat capability).  My game will be based on players playing characters from a single great clan (whose clan I will not mention, played in an earlier era).  I don't have exact specifics of the campaign yet, but I am looking to begin the game around either January or February.  The game day would more than likely be on Fridaysor Sundays, TBD.  The group will probably be 4-6 players in the end, but may be a bit smaller like 2-3 players to start, just depends on player interest.  Any way if either subject interest you, or you have a 4th ed game you think I'd be interested in playing leave a message. Happy gaming and thank you all for reading  Cassie

You should put your time zone in your profile and post. It helps GMs and players choose you.
Hi Cassie Not able to run a game for 4E myself right now, unless we went to maybe a one-on-one kind of game, but I would be more than excited to discuss with you your game for the future!

As far as my game: The time line is the twelfth century IC, a few years prior to the Scorpion Clan Coupe. The Setting northeast Rokugan, the region of the Phoenix Great Clan.  The roles of players I'm thinking clan arbiters or clan magistrates (leaving that up to the players.

I've always had a small interest in checking out L5R but never managed to find books or people playing. I also am not particularely knowledgable of the setting other than japan samurai period with monsters and magic and there are some clans with some degree of animosity in between them. Then there is the fact that this is text based. For me text has one undeniable advantage. it can generate much better RP. At the same time it has one undeniable disadvantage. You never get anywhere. Simply put posts take time to write, a decent post will take a minimum of 3 minutes, usually 3 to 5. A good post ends up really long and can be up to 10 minutes to write. This is not feasable for an actual game so it has to do with quick posts in which case the RP is just dreadful.
This sounds interesting. As said, it would depend on time/date.
I'm interested! Schedule that far out will be hard to predict, but give me a shout when you're ready to run it!

While it is not a definate that I will be running a text only game (that will be only if most players or all for whatever reason are unable to play via chat.  I don't care too much for video based games so no matter what, it will be Voice if not text.  Not that I am concerned either way. I am well versed in playing text only games as well as others, so it isn't something I worry about.  I guess that comes with the territory of someone who has been gaming since the early 80's, when the internet began, I was already an old hand at tabletop gaming and remember when texting was the only form of online tabletop gaming.  As far as books go, I will not be able to help any player who doesn't have any of the books unfortunately, it is advised that interested players provide their own reading materials, the Core book would be a minimal need for most players, although an in experienced players who is good at role-playing may be considered if they take a pre-generated character.

Thank you and I understand.            I will let you know when it gets close to me actually recruiting players, which I actually don't just accept anyone.  I need to interview each interested players who wish to participate in my games.  If the initial interview goes well, I will send said individuals an Invite to the game.  (The Campaign Name:  The Lotus).            My main concern when it comes to players is compatibility, gaming styles and expectations.  This interview will not weed out ever possible player who might not do well in my games, but it helps.  Then the player of course has to also weigh in on rather or not they wish to play in the game I am running (you/ they may not like my personality or my gaming style as well.).            That being said, players who accept the invitation will have a week to complete a character sheet which must be approved.  Once the game begins, I reserve the right to change my mind on any players who end up either not being a good fit, or mature enough for the campaign. The character not only has to fit within the type of campaign that is being ran, but also must be a character that has an interesting concept and can work well enough with others.  I think the most difficult part will be the appropriate role-playing for the setting which will require work form everyone to work, so a good core group of players is the desire, rather than numbers or accepting anyone with an interest.            So, I will be posting info about the upcoming campaign as I finish working on my preparations.  So you may want to look at future post I make as well as correspondences to those inquiring about this game.  I will be running a very lethal campaign, that will be heavily story driven, where the traditions of Honor, Glory, and Deeds will be very important along with acting in-character (while I don't expect anyone to be perfect, unless they grew up in a feudal Japan like environment, but it will be important that the players have a willingness to constantly improve and make the effort to really help add to a great game for all.  If for whatever reason, you become unable or uninterested in playing the game, I wish you and everyone else happy gaming.
Hey there! I have played quite a bit of L5R with a dedicated group, I have about three years or so of experience with the setting. I love the idea of playing with text only, and i'd be very interested in this when it starts. Of course I cant say for sure about availability this far out, but make sure to let me know when this is starting because you have a very interested player here.
