Hi, My name is Sam, I'm 27, CDT Time Zone, and my discord is @SamDoesDumb#4196. I've played a few campaigns of 5e this year and have really enjoyed my experience so far. Unfortunately, a few of my games have been cancelled due to life of a few players and dm's. So, I'm searching for a new campaign and would love to be considered in yours. I've played Tank, DPS, and Support classes and haven't found a preference of classes. If your group needs something in particular, I'd be willing to roll up a character for your next session. I also prefer heavy RP vs just a combat heavy one shot, and I am not really here to become an over powered maniac set on killing everyone. If you have some time to read through this, there is a special little guy whom I've wrote up a backstory for and have been hoping to play soon... Glim Gimlen, the Mystical, Deep Gnome Wizard. Sixteen ago, the wife of Kronthud Gimlen, Lulthiss, gave birth within a perilous, subterranean world known as the Underdark to a Deep Gnome boy, named Glim. Clan Gimlen was small, but admired by the svirfneblin community due to Kronthud's involvement in leadership. Due to bleak times, it would fall on him to help those in need, though sacrificing his parental duties was the price he paid. An unsupervised and friendless adolescence presented Glim a unique opportunity to explore the maze of catacombs carved out by his ancestors to find interesting artifacts and tools that he would later study and admire. Usually the trinkets were of little to no value, but his imagination wouldn't allow him to be convinced. His investigation of the tunnels would one day lead him to uncovering a small, buried, human-constructed library. At first glance, time appeared to have forgotten it, sinking the building from the World Above. Walking to the back of the room, Glim looked down each aisle of book shelves in awe. Suddenly, his feet stopped and sweat began to drip down his brow. At the back of the study was a corpse in a robe clutching a book. Sitting by a candle, Glim blew the dust from the heavy tome he took from the dead man, revealing intricate engravings on the leather-bound book. He delicately opened it, and read from the first page. Inscribed in common were author's name, Evras Voligast, a year from a millenia ago, and the memoirs of his death. Everas stated he devoted his life to Sorcery and using his spells to bend the laws of time and space, all for one thing: Infinite Knowledge. A spell known as "wish" allowed him the ability to expose hidden powers that he could not control. In doing so, it brought misfortune to his school and loved ones. In order to prevent others from receiving his curse, Evras teleported his laboratory and incarcerated himself with the dark magic. The foreboding text that followed failed to sway Glim's curiosity. Everas mentions the curse of enlightenment will assuredly be one's undoing. "Curse, enlightenment, undoing..." Glim's lips tremble as he mutters the words and peels the page back. A strange symbol drawn on the next page begins to radiate dim strands light, beckoning Glim's eyes to stare deep within. Beams emitted from the symbol, engulfing the brave gnome. Glim felt his body being torn apart to particles, his soul separating from his person, and simultaneously caressed and nurtured. He felt himself transported around at impossible speeds for one moment, the next he was still. Visions of the World Above, the Cosmos, and the Outer Planes flashed before him. Glim later finds himself waking up and capable of controlling his body, unsure of what had happened as his visions seemed like a haze in memory. Looking down, the book that he recovered from Evras was in ashes below him. He felt scared of the place now, like something was watching him. Returning home, he kept his discovery to himself. Though, his parents could tell his behavior had changed of the coming months. They would witness him engaged in conversation with people who weren't there. Accompanied by the unusual behavior of the boy was sporadic attacks on their society by beasts from the Lowerdark. Kronthud sent word to a trusted Wizard friend, describing his son's peculiar condition and the sorry state of his people. Glim's parents were in tears the day Blodeuwedd came. Kronthud tried to remain calm but pushed his son away from him, saying he could never return home. Glim could not comprehend why his father was banishing him from home, but the old wizard insisted he would look after him. An old wizard became Glim's guardian from that day on until time would take him around Glim's 16th name day. The haven, which was Blodeuwedd's home, served as a safeguard from the things below that tried to kidnap Glim in the Underdark. His guardian instructed the boy in the ways of Arcane Arts so that he may defend himself and developed a necklace that harbored the boy's power. When the powers were locked away, it seemed the boy could live normally. Upon Blodeuwedd's passing, Glim set out on a new adventure: To solve the mystery of his curse and further his understanding of magic.
