Dragging a Character from Journal onto Map Only Emits "Loading" Message

Once, the first time, I drag a Character onto a map it behaves as if I had dragged an image up as a token for the map. The loading bar never moves off that initial tick. If I close the message and try again, it does nothing. I suspect it should create a token from the default Character image with the trait inheritance initialized.

If I am understanding you correctly you are trying to drag an image from a Character (in the Journal tab)? If that is correct, I don't think the system is currently set up to do that and should prevent you from doing so. I will mention this to the Devs. Thank you for reporting it. - Gauss
This is now fixed (you can now drag an avatar from the Character sheet onto the tabletop and it will create a token out of that avatar image). I don't really think this is super useful at the moment though, so I'm working on adding some additional character + token linking.
Being able to set a Portrait image and a Token image on the character sheet would be nice.
I suggested something to that effect in a mockup I did of a character sheet revamp http://app.roll20.net/forum/post/159/character-sheets#post-56481
Awesome. I look forward to using that next game. :)
Would it be easy to extend this to the image on a Handout? The Handouts are a good place to keep both genuine handouts and images that you want to show your players during play, but for the latter it would often be more atmospheric to drag the image to the desktop rather than pop it up in a Handout dialog window. I realise that this replicates what you can do with the image gallery, but there you would have to search for your handout images, rather than having them ready in the Journal. Related to this, it would be great if dragging images from there, or as now from the Image gallery, could retain the original dimensions when not scaling to the grid. Although Alt prevents the image from snapping to the grid, it still seems to end up the same size that it's displayed in the gallery (where all your images are forced to the same width regardless of whether they're tokens, maps, 'cut-screen' or handout images). I can't think of a reason why Alt-dragging shouldn't also retain the original size and aspect ratio of the image.

Ok, the only way I get it to work is to click on the character, to pop open the sheet, and then dragging that image down on the tabletop. Would it be possible to make it work so I can grab the entry in the Journal list directly? Also it should do: - Set the new token to be automatically associated with the journal entry - There could be a new section in the sheet, where you can set default values for the tokens. Like Permissions as "Name See, Bar 1 Edit, Bar 2 Edit, Bar 3 None." as well as linking Bars to certain Attributes like HPs or filling in default values for Emit Light. Maybe clicking a button to pop up a new window for it, looking like the Token page. - Having a way to set a different picture for the token and the Sheet would be cool. So that it shows a nice picture in the list and when I click it, but when I drag it over it uses the top-view token for example. That way I can set the player tokens and often used NPCs in the Journal and on a new map just drag them over there. Sure I can copy/paste them from another map, which is what I currently do, but this would make the process a lot easier
It would be useful if the character sheet had the health bar information on it as well, so instead of having to copy and paste tokens from page to page, you could just click and drag the token from the character sheet, no matter what page you're on.
I just make a token holding page with tokens for all the players and copy/paste from there. Those tokens are already linked and automatically update as needed.
Well the idea is to not have to copy and paste from another page. I do that already, I'd like to not have to do that for every new page I make, it'd be easier to just drag from the journal (or select a few characters at the same time and drag from the journal page).
