Are you looking to be a just a player or Dungeon Master? Either way, there are many ways to get the resources you need. You can either buy them for Roll20, or you can set things up yourself. In other words, spending money will help you save time in setting things up. Roll20 has a variety of character sheets for you to choose from depending on which version you choose to play. The app roller does a great job of replicating real dice results, though I know some still choose to roll physical dice. The beauty is the choice is up to your gaming group. If you are going to just be a player, even less is required. Rule books of course whether in Roll20 or out, and that is about it (even then, there are so many automated things, one can even get by without the rulebooks and just follow instructions from the GM and or other players to help you learn the game). The GM will have everything else needed to play the game. I'm sure many others will also offer up great advice. It's a fun community, just be sure to have patience as finding a good group to game with can sometimes take some time. Good luck and have fun!
