I was tempted to buy Tomb of Annihilation to run for my friends but if paying 50 bucks for the thing and not getting all the features it mentions, I'm better off just making the maps myself with the packs I've bought and get a plus account. I understand that, wanting to use "all available features" on anything you buy and feel like you're paying for those extras. The modules run beautifully using the Free Account feature "Fog of War", for those who do not have the Plus/Pro subscriber access to "Dynamic Lighting". Fog is a decent replacement. Either method is used to hide the upcoming sections and focus on the Player-Character's current nearby area. The way with Fog Of War is a little more blocky and slightly more mouse-work for the GM, similar to having a map on your home table that is covered with index-cards and remove a card each time the PC's move to reveal a new area. The Dynamic Lighting method has the advantage of showing specifically each character's sight-distance, animated automatically as the player moves their own token. So yes the DL is sweeter, but you can still run the module & hide unseen areas with the basic GM account, so it is very playable and the maps are nice.
