Chat History Crashes

How about an FTP link or some way that does not try to force the browser to deal with the Chat history option at the top of the chat panel? When you get to a *LARGE* volume of back-talk, the browser crashes with memory problems. It would be so much easier if it were a file download that saved on the local DASD rather than trying to make an already fragile and memory hungry browser function try to interpret the stream.

You can delete the chat log temporary while playing a campaign from the Settings tab. You can also delete it permanently from the Campaign Details page. If you want to make a backup before deleting it permenantly, you can view the chat log from the details page and save the resulting html file.
Thanks for that info'. But... Anyone? ... or just the GM? What if it is already a bazillion lines long and there is dialogue you do not want to lose? The problem is trying to "view the chat log from the details page and save the resulting html file." without blowing up the browser. I am looking for a way to pull the information down from the original log (prefer *NOT* HTML), but in any case avoiding the "in game" option that crashes the browser.

Every user, not just the GM, has access to the "Clear Current Chat Log" button when running a campaign. It's important to note that this button needs to be repressed if a user has to refresh their campaign's browser tab or exits and then rejoins the campaign. At this time, there's no export feature to save it out as plain text. Would be nice though. The dice images tend to be the biggest hog in the chat log. While it won't fix your current problem, because it's not a retroactive action, you can minimize the new chat log load by disabling advanced dice in the settings tab. Disabling chat avatars should help too.

You can save a chat archive by right clicking on the Archive and then save as a webpage complete. Then you can clear the log permanently to prevent it from getting very long. If you have already allowed it to get very long and you are unable to save it send me a join link. Maybe I can do something with it (no promises).
Thanks to both of you. I'll talk this over with Dan Johnson, the Troll Kindom GM.
