Is there a way to get back character info that was overwritten as monster info was being added but ended up in a character instead?

There's nothing like that in th API. Probably your only option would be to restore the Game to an earlier state when the character was not overwritten. Rollbacks are a Pro Subscriber Perk so that might require you to bump up to Pro for a month so you can access the Rollbacks.
