(Edit) I found a GM but we are still looking for a few more players so if you are interested click the link below and post an application . Game Link Not sure if this group usually has LFGM posts but i was told to join through a similar post so no reason not to spread my net a little further. I'm available to play Tuesday or Thursday anywhere from 7 PM to 1 AM EST and even though I'd prefer the accelerated version of the game I'm happy to try the FATE Core version. I've never played DFA or any FATE/FATE accelerated games before but I'm looking to learn. I really enjoy the Dresden files books so when I picked up a copy of the game I thought it might be fun to play it. I usually play D&D on roll20 using discord for voice but if I join an existing group that has another set up I'll switch to whatever you use.

Hello! I'm not the Forum admin., but I can give you a few pointers. The Dresden Files RPG is based on an older version of Fate rules (spelled FATE in capitals, 3rd-edition). Fate Core has some differences but you can read "the Veteran's Guide" in the back-pages of the Fate Core System rulebook and also here: https://www.evilhat.com/home/wp-content/uploads/20... I say often there is a great cheat-sheet for the game drawn up in the order in which things usually occur. It's called The Mechanical Summary of Fate Core: https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/comments/17h3a2/a_mec... Fate Accelerated is even easier. All the general system information can be looked up for either Core or Accelerated here: https://fate-srd.com/ Now, it's a bit harder to put up a Looking for Group ad if you're not the GM or don't have a GM in the group yet. You might want to decide what kind of game setting you prefer, and look at the existing games to see if they accept new players. This Forum has a message-thread that is stickied up at the top of the message-list (a "red banner" is next to it) showing what the current campaigns are. If something interests you, ask the GM if they take more players. I am in a certain Fate game on Thurs. but it's not up to me to say; it's up to the GM. If I can free up some free time I would run something myself, but I can't promise anything not thoroughly prepared.
Thanks for the info on FATE I didn't realize the Dresden files game was based on an older version. As for it being harder to advertise without a GM I'd agree but I've successfully formed groups this way before using other systems. The only game listing thread I see sticked is the 2018 one and it only has one listing. I've been in this group for a couple of months and haven't seen a new Dresden files game pop up. I'm not actively seeking any other setting at the moment so I'm happy to wait until one pops up but in the meantime, It never hurts to express interest in a certain setting. Don't worry about shuffling things around to much just to be able to run a game for me. Hopefully this thread catches the eye of someone looking to run a game and nudges them in the direction of the Dresden files accelerated.

Oh, I see! You are right. There were 20-odd listings of ongoing games but at the New Year everything was cleared. It is up to GMs to re-list their games.

Hello Steven, Yes, The 2017 One-Shots, Mini-Campaigns and Longer Campaigns thread has been closed and a new campaign listing thread has been started, the 2018 One-Shots, Mini-Campaigns and Longer Campaigns thread. I know that there were multiple Dresden games in the 2017 thread but until any continuing games from 2017 are looking for new folks and advertise, we won’t know that they’re still running. Last year, I ran a 6 session Dresden Accelerated game that went quite well. This year, I have plans to do the same but I’m still working out the scenario (still in the “noodling around in my head” stage) and I’ve got a few other games in situ already, so I don’t know when I’ll get to it. I urge anyone that wants to play a specific setting to seriously consider GMing it. GMs are in short supply on Roll20 and GMs for non-standard games (i.e. non-D&D games) doubly-so, it seems. GMing is not easy but it’s also not an elite group, and one (hopefully, at least for me) gets better at it by practicing. I’ve found that the best course of action on Roll20 (for me) is to GM a Mini-Campaign of 3-6 sessions and not worry about any longer games than that. If there’s enough interest to continue, then do another Mini-Campaign. Rinse and repeat. I’ll let you know when my Dresden game is close to ready, otherwise best of luck! (Unless you’re willing to GM one, then doubly-so!) /Matt
