I think the D&D5e community here is so big that they could actually have their own general forum here, or bring back the off-topic forum.
Right now 66% of all people play D&D5e, and PF doesn't come even close with below 25%, so it wouldn't be a slippery slope for all other systems having own sub forums when there isn't nearly as much of them.
The community is big, and quite often 5e players keep posting general 5e questions everywhere even it says the forums here are only for roll20 stuff. It would help with separating all general 5e questions that keeps popping up and to have the big community to have a separate space to be in.
I also get if people are against it as it could potentially shift the focus even more to 5e, which it on the other hand really don't need any help with, and could hurt the diversity of games played and discussed. The off topic forum was closed 4 years ago to shift the focus to roll20, but things could be different now.

Edit: Okay, the CCoC says under Intended Use:
The Roll20 Forums exist to discuss topics directly related to the use of the Roll20 program and Roll20 systems. Anything that more fittingly could be discussed on another website should be discussed there. So I guess this suggestion have no future, but I'll leave it up if it picks up or whatever.
