[LFP][D&D5e][18+]First Time DM Looking for Players for Long Term Campaign.

I am DMing my first D&D campaign and am looking for a few more players. I have DMed different systems before (FFG Star Wars, King Arthur Pendragon, FATE) but not D&D. I have been playing 5e on and off for a little over a year now. -Schedule right now is Fridays Evenings 9:30 pm EST/6:30 PST - FIRST SESSION MARCH 9th -Sessions will be between 3-4 hours Campaign Name: Hic Sunt Dracones Since time in memorial Dragons have ruled the world with each of the five nations being ruled by a chromatic dragon. This has allowed for a time known as the Great Peace. But peace cannot last forever. Campaign Information: -Will use Fearun maps, in particular, the Sword Coast Region, but the socio-political setting is homebrew. -Magic items are uncommon. There are no magic shops filled with whatever you wish to buy, but the can be found. -There will be downtime between adventures to allow for roleplay opportunities, shopping, etc. -Lots of battle maps with Dynamic Lighting -Custom Calendar that will be used to keep track of time. -I try my best to make meaningful NPCs and multiple options to every situation (diplomacy can be as effective as combat) More information about the campaign setting can be found here (Still a WIP): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tVnUGUEYH-AdmTg6aATwX5Xia5jZbjvR/view?usp=sharing (Starting out in the Federation of the Sword) Basic Table Rules: -Know Your Shit. It is your job to know how your character works. As a first time DM, I have enough to learn and know without knowing every detail of your character. I understand if you aren't perfect (neither am I), but wish to keep the slowdown to a minimum. -This is my Campaign Setting. Don't expect to find everything that you've read in the rule books to exist, or works the same way. -DM has Final Say. If there comes a time where a ruling brings us into conflict, it is best to go along with the call made at the moment and we can figure out the problem afterward. -Be an Adult. Be considerate to your fellow players. Know when to hold back, and allow someone else to take on the spotlight. Your fun is not more important than their fun. -Simple encumbrance will be used, players will keep track of rations, food and ammunition. -There are some homebrew rules/features that I have added to the game such as; Mastercafted weapons/armor, Strongholds, Followers, etc. - If you join the campaign we will go into this sort of thing in more detail. Character Creation: Characters will be created during a session zero once all the player slots have been filled. It is okay to have an idea of what you would like to play. However, do not post an application with a fully fleshed out character. I will be choosing applications based on you, not your character. We will go into more detail during session zero, but keep in mind the following. -27 point (standard) stats buy - http://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html -All Published WOTC content is allowed in terms of spells, classes, backgrounds. -All races from PHB except Dragonborn are allowed. -Characters will begin at level 1 Players must be 21+ years or older Game will include curse words, mature language, and situations. This will be a game for adults. There will be blood, sex, gore, death, etc. If it can be found in an episode of game of thrones, it's fair game. Rated R, not X. Players must be reliable. If you cannot make at least 90+% of the games, now or in the future as far as you know, please do not apply and waste my time or the time of other players. Any player missing too many games will be replaced. If you are interested, please answer the following questions. 1. How old are you? 2. What class/race do you wish to play? 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? (don’t worry, no prior experience necessary ) 6. Do you know how to use roll20 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? (Dungeons, outdoor adventures, roleplaying, mystery solving, puzzles...etc) Hope that covers enough If you have any questions please feel free to PM me and ask!
If you are interested, please answer the following questions. 1. How old are you: 23 2. What class/race do you wish to play: I can bounce between fighter/barbarian or wizard/sorcerer as the party requires. 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions : I have Friday off so no issues there. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that: No problem. 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before: I've clocked about 400 hours in 5e so I know the ins and outs pretty well. 6. Do you know how to use roll20: Yes. I have macros set up for attacks and such to expedite attacks and spell DC's. 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality: Yes and yes. 5. What do you like the most in a campaign: I am always a fan of a good ol' dungeon crawl or crypt robbing and traveling through the forest taking turns keeping watch so you're not ambushed is always a good time. I like roleplay where the outcome is directly determined by how well or poorly the party handles the situation and not predetermined. I also enjoy puzzles that can be solved in a variety of ways and has no single "correct" way of solving. The least: I am not a fan of murder mysteries as it tends to bog the game down and every player has a different interpretation of what the clues might mean and who the culprit is. I understand the need for intrigue and but what might seem plainly obvious for the DM is oftentimes overlooked by the party. Also hard time limits on things that rush the players to make a decision and making players choose to either abandon what they're doing and get moving or risk losing whatever they were working towards.
1. How old are you? 24 2. What class/race do you wish to play? My favorite races are unfortunately from the Eberron UA, so I'll probably branch out with a half-elf or tiefling. Class-wise, I tend to go for sorcerers or warlocks pretty primarily. I can play just about anything though. 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? I haven't had anything to do on Fridays for months now, and I don't see that changing any time soon, so most likely yes. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? Provided it's well-done, for sure. 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? (don’t worry, no prior experience necessary ) Been playing since high school 10 years ago, but I'm a little rough on 5E rules. 6. Do you know how to use roll20 I would hope so with 1k hours on my account. 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? Discord yes, microphone is cheap but works and people don't complain about the sound quality. 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? (Dungeons, outdoor adventures, roleplaying, mystery solving, puzzles...etc) The things I like most in campaigns is character interactions and just making a good story. It's always my goal with a game to walk away with interesting stories that I can tell other people. The things I like the least are probably "cutscene" styled encounters, where a social or combat situation essentially has a predetermined outcome no matter what the party does.

1. How old are you? 37 2. What class/race do you wish to play? Druid either Firbolg or Hill Dwarf 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? Yup im off on Fridays and very Dependable. I really dislike cancelling sessions because too many players are unavailable. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? Fuck yeah! 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? I have played years of 3.5 but only about 10 hours of 5e just getting into it. 6. Do you know how to use roll20. Yes i have a basic understanding on makin chars in game and rolling and such,. 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? Yup and yup 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? I like combat and exploring the world as it uncovers before us. I played a Temple of Elemental Evil campaign back in the day and it was quite the experience. The least is probably puzzles maybe im too dumb or i need like hands on for puzzles hehe.
Greetings and salutations! I shall put my application in here :D 1. How old are you? 29 2. What class/race do you wish to play? I have several character builds that I can play as the party needs. However I have a Dwarven Cleric that I would really enjoy playing. 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? Yes 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? Yup. 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? For nearly 15 years. I've only recently picked up 5th Edition though but I always research my class so I know what I'm doing. 6. Do you know how to use roll20? This one I'm learning. I know how to do most of the basics but there's SO much to learn (and as you can see I only have like 30 hours experience in game here). 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? Yes indeed 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? Roleplaying/character interactions (doesn't have to be mine, I love seeing a well thought out character come to fruition). There isn't anything that I dislike about a campaign, however endless strings of combat really do wear on me unless it's colourful or fun in some way.

I am fond of labrynths, mazes and puzzle dungeons, traps are cool. I LOVE ENVIROMENTAL damages or interactions thats dope. characters are hit or miss cause people can be asshats, I love engaging in hard battles i dont want thousands i just want epic shit that makes me sweat to try and figure out how to win, odoor adventures are cool but it takes a while to travel which requires a ton of RP so refer back to people are asshats or we just run out of things to RP early on, RP lastly due to its a hit or miss. Friday nights are typically good. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? Bring it 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? (Dungeons, outdoor adventures, roleplaying, mystery solving, puzzles...etc) Most: RP, character interaction, mysteries and puzzles and the strategy of battles. Least: Marathon battle runs that take up an entire session. These are ok if its known up front (IE ok youve entered the dragons lair. The war has begun type situations). But having endless waves of baddies with no apparent purpose gets tiresome.

1. How old are you? 26 in 8 days 2. What class/race do you wish to play? Half-Orc Barbarian 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? Yes. Most of my work shifts end at most an hour earlier than that. If chosen, I will make sure most becomes all. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? Puts on eyepatch Arrrright! 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? (don’t worry, no prior experience necessary ) Not only did I play, I also DMed and currently am DMing. 6. Do you know how to use roll20 I'm Subscribed for better Roll20 resources. My experience is quite much. 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? Discord > Any other comms app. Feel free to add me @ Obe#2537 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? (Dungeons, outdoor adventures, roleplaying, mystery solving, puzzles...etc) The Three Pillars, Roleplay, Combat, and Exploration. Also Ale. (Btw pretty sure 8 goes after 7, not 5.)
1. How old are you? 21 2. What class/race do you wish to play? Preferably paladin or druid, half-elf/elf from the vanilla races but would be up for a unique race choice. 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? Absolutely 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? I'd prefer it that way 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? (don’t worry, no prior experience necessary ) Yes, a little bit of 3.5e but mostly 5e 6. Do you know how to use roll20 I have 100 hours in Roll20 and have spent about half that playing DnD irl as well 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? I basically live on discord 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? (Dungeons, outdoor adventures, roleplaying, mystery solving, puzzles...etc) DnD, to me, works best when it has both humor and drama. Call me simple but roleplay and dungeon crawls are the most appealing part for me.
1. How old are you?: 31 2. What class/race do you wish to play?: I like playing casters, but also really would like to try rogues. Races, I am partial to dwarves and halflings. 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions?: Yes, I can. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that?: Yes 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before?: I've played a few campaigns in real life and a few on roll20. 6. Do you know how to use roll20: Y es. 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality?: I use discord frequently. I do have a mic headset, I think the quality is okay? If I have technical troubles, I'll fix it. 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least?: The thing I like best about campaigns is getting to be involved in story progression and character roleplay. My least favorite thing is probably really long dungeon crawl sessions if there isn't any real interaction besides combat and looking out for traps.
1. How old are you? 48 2. What class/race do you wish to play? Half-elf/Half-human Ranger or Cleric 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? Should be no problem. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? Fine with me. 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? (don’t worry, no prior experience necessary ) Brand new to playing but have the books and eager to get involved. 6. Do you know how to use roll20 Learning, but willing to spend the time to become more familiar before 3/9. 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? Just installed and audio connection should perform accurately. 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? (Dungeons, outdoor adventures, roleplaying, mystery solving, puzzles...etc) As this is my first real attempt at a campaign, I'm most excited about the role-playing aspect and being part of a team. I like the idea of being a support character. I've spent the last 5 or 6 months listening to Critical Role, and while I know they are professionals their interactions are what I enjoy most. Don't get mean wrong, I want to get my hands dirty in combat and solving puzzles. I am comfortable in a text or voice based adventure. I hope to be considered but if not I wish you and your adventurers well. Mike

1. How old are you? 34 2. What class/race do you wish to play? Probably Half-eld sorcerer or multi-classed sorc. 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? Should not be an issue. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? Absolutely fine with me. 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? (don’t worry, no prior experience necessary ) Been playing D&D in one edition or another for about 22 years now. I have been playing and running 5th since the play-test dropped, so quite a few years now. 6. Do you know how to use roll20? Yup, I run a couple campaigns and was a player in a few a long time ago on here. 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? Yessir. 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? (Dungeons, outdoor adventures, roleplaying, mystery solving, puzzles...etc) Honestly, I enjoy a mix and it depends on the mood. I like the roleplay aspect the most probably but I enjoy all aspects. The only time I enjoy something the least I would have to say is a massive dungeon crawl or multiple dungeon crawls that spawn months of real time, just seems to get tedious.
1 . How old are you? 22 2 . What class/race do you wish to play? Looking at your campaign setting, I think I'd like to try a Human Monk from The Eastern Protectorate but there's a few other things that look fun too. 3 . Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? My schedule can be as flexible as needed 4 . This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? Sure, I don't see why not. 5 . Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? Never played but I have spent a lot of time doing my best to memorize the rules, mechanics, and all of that jazz. I'd certainly love to give it a go. 6 . Do you know how to use roll20? I am still unfamiliar with this but I should be able to pick it up with more practice. 7 . Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? I literally just installed Discord today. I do have a turtle beach headset with a detachable boom mic that I use for playing games on my PS4, I think it should work and it sounds decent to me. 8 . What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? Much like Michael L. up there, this would be my first game. I've watched the Critical Role streams since I discovered it last year and enjoy all aspects of what they do. When it comes to video games, I enjoy a good story first and foremost. I think that translates well to this? As for what I like the least, that would be a storyline that just ends abruptly or actions not having consequences. Thank you very much for your time and I hope my inexperience with everything isn't too big of a turn off, I'm a fast learner and we all start somewhere yeah? If I don't get to join in on this, I wish you all the best of times and have fun!

1. 29 2. Human or Half-Elf probably. I'd like to play a con man : Mastermind rogue, illusionist wizard, Trickster cleric, bard or Warlock, depending on the party's need. 3. I can. I won't lie to you, I have a family, they can get sick or I could be forced to stay at work if there is an emergency, but the game is pretty late, so im confident. 4. I wouldn't play in a campaing that wasn't rated R. 5. I played a little when I was a kid, then again a couple years later with friens (3.5 and Shadowrun) Now, I started playing on roll20 since my work schedule is stabble and normal. I also just recently started playing again with my friends, as a DM. 6. Enough to get by : I can draw shapes, use the ruler to move, roll initiative and I master a couple other functions, for now. 7. I do have discord and a headset. 8. Balance. I love combat, RP, exploration. I think all 3 have to be present to get the best experience. A game without combat wouldn't be challenging and a game without roleplay could be fun, for a time. If I had to choose one, it would be good roleplay, in character. I like teamwork, trying to be creative and finding interesting solution to the problem we face. I would say that the thing I like the least would be when we can't change the outcome of a situation, when it feel staged, linear and forced.
If you are interested, please answer the following questions. 1. How old are you? 36 2. What class/race do you wish to play? I’m a team player, whatever the group needs. Every class has something cool about them I think. 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? I don’t work on Friday so I will be there every week except for a vacation I have planned in October. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? No problem 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? (don’t worry, no prior experience necessary ) I played AD&D, 3.0, and 3.5 when I was younger but had kids in my mid-twenties and had to give it up. I’ve fulfilled my love of fantasy RPG’s by playing World of Warcraft for the last decade or so, but I’m tired of that and want to get back into D&D. My kids are older now and I have the free time again. I’ve read the 5e PHB thoroughly and am excited to try it out! 6. Do you know how to use roll20 This will be my first experience with roll20, but I’ve done a lot of research before even applying here and I’m confident in my ability to use it. 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? Yes, I’ve used Discord extensively since it came out. 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? (Dungeons, outdoor adventures, roleplaying, mystery solving, puzzles...etc) To be honest my favorite part is probably combat. There’s something inherently satisfying in defeating a powerful foe or surviving an ambush. However too much action gets boring for me the same as too little. The campaigns I enjoyed most were always diverse and had multiple obstacles to overcome. My least favorite campaigns were ones that didn’t feel finished. I don’t mind a few loose ends or NPC’s we might meet on another adventure later, but I want the overarching plot to feel complete.
1. How old are you? 24 2. What class/race do you wish to play? I am open to just about anything, though I will probably avoid barbarian. Pure melee classes kind of bore me. 3. Can you make all of the sessions with few to no exceptions? Yes. 4. This campaign is rated R. Can you handle that? Yes. 5. Have you played Dungeons and Dragons before? (don’t worry, no prior experience necessary ) I have DM'd far mare then I have played, but yes I have experience in D&D. 6. Do you know how to use roll20? Yes. 7. Have you used discord, and have a working microphone with decent sound quality? Yes. 5. What do you like the most in a campaign? The least? (Dungeons, outdoor adventures, roleplaying, mystery solving, puzzles...etc) I cant name any one thing that is least favorite, but my favorite thing is being in a living world where what we do has consequence and what we dont do has consequences.
Thanks for all the applications. As of right now, I have filled all the player slots. If someone does not accept an invite or drops out, I will update this post.
