[LFG] The Silver Cord - Looking for players for a 5E homebrew campaign, new players welcome!

Six days ago, you were handed a letter. Written on fine white paper in a beautiful, curling, hand, that is unfamiliar to you, it requested your presence in one week's time. "Dear friend, it has been far too long since we have spoken, and for that I am truly sorry. I am afraid that time has become short, and I must once again ask for your help. I implore you to put aside what must be your considerable confusion, and meet me in one week's time at the entrance to the ruins of Rauvinwatch Keep, west of Silverymoon. I will await you at the first rising of the sun. I hope that I can count on your assistance, the fate of many might now weigh on your shoulders. Your friend in time, Carris Bellwether." The Silver Cord is a mostly homebrewed game, set vaguely within the Forgotten Realms of fifth edition D&D. I have been running this campaign for most of the past year, but due to other commitments our group has sadly had to disband. I am eager to bring together a new party to explore this story, combining themes of time travel, parallel worlds, and mysterious forces at work behind the scenes.  This campaign involves combat and exploration in a variety of locations and times, but it is primarily focused on role-playing with a emphasis on deep character development. I enjoy really writing characters into the story, and I'm happy to work with you on your backgrounds to help tie things together. This is a friendly game, and players will be expected to treat one another respectfully. It is open to players of any gender, belief, or background. Focusing on story, this is probably not the game for rules lawyers and those who require strict adherence to the book at all times. With all the boring stuff out of the way, here's what I'd love to hear about from you. Name: Age: Location/Timezone: Short Bio: Just tell me a little about yourself, no pressure. Proposed Character: Doesn't need to be fully developed, but enough that I know what I'm working with. Experience: I'm open to new players, so long as you're prepared to commit and to learn your class. We will be starting at level 2, so there's plenty of time to get to grips with the game and I'm always happy to help people learn.
Hey thwre! Just to avoid any confusion, whats your goal time to run ganes? It's just, as you posted this at an odd time (for north america) without a tine refrence. I work nights and am in cst so I have very odd hours but figured I'd check with you first to trim down the confusion! 😅 cheers! And It looks like you've got a very solid premise. For example, I live in CST but my avaliblity is: Mondays 4pm-10pm Tuesdays 7am - 11am Wednesdays 7am - 11am and 4pm-10pm Thursdays 7am - 11am and 4pm-10pm Fridays 7am - 11am Saturdays 7am - 11am and 4pm-10pm Sundays Unavailable

No problems. You're right, I am in fact from Australia. But I do often play with American groups. We're probably looking at a start between 7-9 CST depending on players. As for days my availability is very flexible, and we would work it out dependent on the final group. ^_^

I do a some regular gaming with 3 Aussies [one who has moved to NA] and am always happy to take a shot at an opportunity to get a regular group going. Name: David McLean Age: 33 Location/Timezone: Manitoba, Canada / CST Short Bio: Want to be writer, I've been playing dnd since my older brother got the old AD&D books from a neighbor's garage sale in the early 90's and followed his lead into 2nd Ed. Ran a lot of games for my friends in 3ed/3.5 and recently got invited into a friends 5th ed game on Sundays my time, I have fallen in love with the new system all over again. I work nights at a gas station and love deep rp and character development / growth, with a focus on the players and the DM writing a sort of team narrative together Proposed Character: I have many, but the current idea that's been rolling around in my head is a Tiefling Bard with the Noble Background. As for the concept, to avoid going long, they are the 7th in line to the throne, but are one of the few members of the family that was born with visible inhuman traits. Thus they were raised in secret by a minor family of noble Tiefling's that pose as Loyalists to the Crown when in truth they are all part of the noble house born with the families true heritage. Due to their laissez faire approach to life and politics, they've take up the game of politics and now represent their family as a 'diplomat'.  I do have plenty of other ideas if the party is in need of a specific membership to balance the scales. Experience: I've been playing dnd since the early 90's and about a month or two ago picked up 5th ed. Have fallen in love and am pouring over the new material with a aggressive appetite. Have DM'ed in the past far more than I've been able to play as a pc, so I long for more game's where I can just get absorbed in someone else's imagination.

Hey There! If you're still looking for people I'd be really interested in joining you! Name : Austin Age : 24 Location/Timezone : Nova Scotia, Canada. AST (CST + 2, GMT - 4) Short Bio : I'm currently working and don't really get out a lot otherwise so I'm looking to meet some new people and make a few friends! Proposed Character : I would like to play a Tiefling that grew up in a traveling troupe/faire, who can see ghosts and has been travelling the world for the past decade. I'm willing to play most classes that make sense for this character, or just create a different character to fit the party better! Experience :I have no experience with Tabletop RPGs or Roll20 but I have been really interested in playing D&D for a long time. I have gone over the PHB a few times but I may need some help here and there. My availability during the week (in CST) would be Mon - Wed 4 - 8 pm, Thu 4 pm onwards, Fri 1 pm onwards, all Sat to Sun at Noon. Thank you for your consideration!
Hey! Not sure if you're still accepting applications, but I'm really into the hook you've given us and am interested to learn more about (and hopefully participate in) the campaign you're putting together. (Also, I also really appreciate that you're looking for a non-discriminate group, as a member of the LGBT community who just wants to play D&D 😅) Name: James Age: 21 Location/Timezone: Canada, CST Short Bio: Uhh, well. I'm an artist and video game enthusiast- maybe a little awkward, but also pretty laid back. Big fan of cats. I'm currently training to be a supervisor at the thrift store I work at, which, unfortunately, means I have an inconsistent schedule... but Friday nights/weekends are when I'm most available. I'm also a firm believer that pineapple is an acceptable pizza topping. Proposed Character: My first choice would be a human barbarian, cursed with lycanthropy. Totally willing to work with you as far as the backstory, limitations, etc... but if that character really isn't going to work, I'm not opposed to picking something else. Experience: I've been playing 5e for about a year and am pretty comfortable with the rules. Never played barbarian, though, so that'll be new for me. Hope to hear from you!
Name: Jesse Age: 44 Location/Timezone: Texas, CST.  Tu-F mornings or afternoons work for me.  Short Bio: I work from home and have a pretty flexible schedule.  I recently discovered Roll20 and I'm enjoying getting back into live roleplaying.  I haven't been able to do "tabletop" RP since college.  Most of my RP since then was play-by-email, which lacked the personal interaction of voice chat.  :D  I like to be an active participant in things and not merely an idle bystander. I like challenges that make the party think and I tend to tackle problems from odd perspectives. I'm cooperative, easygoing, and not a fan of meta-gaming or arguing rules. Proposed Character: Depending on the party's need, either a human arcane caster (most likely a sorcerer) or something meatshieldish, like a ranger or straight up fighter.  The character would be a study in contradictions. Handsome and charismatic yet insecure and awkward. Intelligent but completely clueless.  Personality doesn't really fully take shape, though, until I meet the rest of the group. Experience:   I started playing AD&D in high school and college.  Mostly played pbem games after graduation with 3.5E rules.  Familiar with both sets.  Fairly new to 5E and learning it in a game here now.
Name: Brandon M Age: 33 Location/Timezone: Pennsylvania, USA (EST) Short Bio: I work in healthcare, but I went to school to study painting, so I do that a lot too. Here’s some of my digital stuff bmartian.tumblr.com . I’m a huge sci fi fan. I play guitar. I read a lot, ect ect. Proposed Character: Male, rock gnome, artificer, chaotic good. He’s a professor of mechanization at a gnome tinker school. He is currently on sabbatical, hoping to research new technologies and field test his newest invention, a thunder canon. The letter he received from his old friend Carris Bellwether might just provide the perfect opportunity to complete those objectives.(there’s more to him but that’s the very basics) Experience: I’ve been playing d&d for almost 5 years now in multiple 3.5e and 5e campaigns as both player and DM. I love role playing, improvising, and weaving character backstories into adventures. I prefer strategy to brute force and I’m experienced enough to know class capabilities and be quick on my turns in combat.
Name:  Ken Age:  29 Location/Timezone:  British Columbia, Canada (PST) Short Bio: I'm a writer (novels & comics), and spend a ton of my days working out horrible things to do to characters I spent my heart and soul creating. A lot of my projects are fantasy-based so I spend free time making character concepts that may never see the light of day. I'm a huge fan of One Piece. Proposed Character: Well I've got a bunch of different concepts, none of which are really fleshed out but I'd like to play (I'm also perfectly happy filling to role the party needs). One is a Dwarven Cleric who was exiled from his clan due to unwillingness to adhere to their traditions, he wandered alone for many years before finding his purpose serving his deity. Experience: 15 years total in tabletop roleplaying games, just a few months with 5E but I've looked through the PHB pretty well.

Name: Steven Age: 24 Location/Timezone: Minnesota, USA Short Bio: I am a college student who is going through a period where I have no clue what to do. Went in thinking one major would be perfect for me, got a little ways into and found out I despise it. Proposed Character: I would love to play this Aasamir, Hexblade warlock with the haunted one background that has been going around in my head for a while. I am trying to figure out how to sell the character without actually spoiling the surprise of it for other players and I am failing miserably. The short and sweet of it is he has spent the last several years not being fully aware of what he was doing and he has recently regained his senses and what he does remember doing haunts him and has left him scared to this day. Experience: I have been involved with d&d for 2 years or so and most of that has been as a dm. I keep finding games, but those games never last more then a session or two because things fall through. As a result of that I have very little experience as a player.
