Hello, most people call me Haunter. I am fairly new to Roll20, but it seems to provide a service that will be of us to me soon. In the next few months I will be leaving my home town and moving, but I wanted a way to keep playing those pen and paper games with my friends. This will help greatly, but I could use any tips, being so new. I watched the current (and some other/older videos) on how Roll20 works, but I'm new to the community, and I don't know how things work. TLDR version:- 1- Does using a system other than what is available on this site (for example I'm using the Mythic GM Emulator) effect anything or mean that I have ot keep my games private? Will it detract people from joining, because it's not as popular as the others? Am I able to share information about it (Like needing to get a 50 or higher on a roll)? 2-The project I'm working on for non-local-friends is Giant Robots. From Super Robots with sentience to Real Robots requiring top notch parts and piloting. I didn't see very many topics on this, but I'd love to get a group going, but the question is, is this a topic that no one will be interested in? I'm commited and have finished half of all the classes as far as drawing a colored picture (using macromedia flash, exported as a jpeg :P, on a old laptop that has a tablet pen for drawing) and I plan on doing the other half as well. I'm not a huge fan of all the animes or anything, but the idea of controlling/being part of controlling a gigantic robot is a great fun idea, am I alone (here)? 3- As far as Macro/abilities
ect go, is there a way to automatically reduce one stat? IE Using
'Fireball' and taking out 20 mana? Long/Explained Version: 1-I'm using the 'Mythic' system, mainly the GM Emulator. It has a fate chart of numbers and scaling difficulties (IE How well your knife handling skills are VS how well the enemy can dodge) and so I am using a reversed process of it instead (because it works better with the macros, as the fat chart uses high numbers=bad and low=good). The Mythic system (not really being a rule set ) wasn't listed, is that really an issue? The style of how I'm adapting it (it recommends adapting it to your own needs) and the macros in the Roll20 system replace the need to look up the chart, but is this still an issue here? (Sorry if it's hard to understand!) 2-While I will end up playing Fantasy type games with my local friends, I have been working on a Giant Robot category. I did a search and noticed some mechwarrior/robotech, but what I am doing is homage to a lot of famous robots. Names are not similar and the looks aren't either, though the premise is the same. Examples: There are Super Robots and Real Robots (basing this off of Tropes), 5 classes (of giant robot) in each. The creation of the Pilot and the Mechanoid, like any good pen and paper, is up to the maker of the character, but with certain guidelines. I have a combining robot, how many units is up to the creator. It could be anything from super sentai to getter robo homage, and I have drawn all of the super robots out (and plan on putting them as tokens) None of the pictures look like any famous SR/RR/Giant Robots. Does any of this break some rules of Roll20? While searching for Giant Robot I saw someone talking about Fair Rights. I don't plan on making money, and I just wanted to start a group up for people who were interested. Also, is this a bad topic? Are very few people going to be interested? The scenarios I'm looking at involve going from pilot to robot, and not using the fog of war, since 'the news is displaying this horrible monster attacking japan' would alert you to where the giant monster/robot/alien (ect) is, not that finding a giant being should be hard. Because of some oversights on what a normal pen and paper might go for (like crawling through dungeons, exploring ancient cities, ect) the Pilot (or group, if using a robot who needs more than one, which the player would act as the leader) would try and limit the destruction of the city, while maximizing the speed of getting to the enemy (Launching the robot from under water, shooting it down from space, having it eject from a even larger carrier, controlling the robot from far away with your toy remote control, ect) 3-(Probably best put into another forum page) As far as Macro/abilities ect go, is there a way to automatically reduce one stat? IE Using 'Fireball' and taking out 20 mana?
