Need help with special dice rolls

Hi there, I've been searching for at least one hour but I can't find how to do what I want to do... I want 1d6 to roll, then if it lands on a 1 or a 6, I want to roll it again, keeping the first result.  We play a game where critics are one 1 and 6 (faillur/success) For example: I roll a d6, it lands on a 6, it rolls automatically again, it lands on a 4, I want Roll20 to display "(insertyourname) landed a 10 on his whatever roll" I tried using the r command (/r 1d6r1r6), but ils rerolls the 1 and 6 without keeping the result of the first dice.  I tried with /r 1d6!1,6 so that it rolls again in case of 1 or 6, but that doesnt work, it only rerolls in case of 1... Anybody knows how to do what I want to do :/ ?

In the dice reference page, this is called exploding: /roll 1d6! will explode on 6s. /roll 1d6!1 will explode on 1s. If you need it to explode on 1 and 6, i dont think that's possible
This is a similar mechanic to the D6 system (maybe it is, in fact, that system), and there's an API script that will do that for you, but you (or the game owner) would need to be Pro-level to use it.

Perhaps it needs more logic? (failed) /roll 1d6!=1!=6 the difference between ! & !! is that one only explodes once, the other is potentially endless, I haven't actually tried it just yet, but it should in theory work. Also, Yes the exploding Dice are cumulative, so it would be a 6+1d6 or 1+1d6 and you'll see it in the mouse over. (remembered it wrong) alternatively, perhaps you can simply do: /roll 1d6r<1r>6 although you wouldn't be able to do the Critical highlight of Critical Success and Critical Failure, because it's not going to"count" those, it will however show up in the Tooltip.
Blue64 said: the difference between ! & !! is that one only explodes once, the other is potentially endless This is incorrect, the  wiki doc (and testing) shows that both versions can explode multiple times, the difference is that when rolling multiple dice, ! will display all the initial rolls and exploded rolls as separate dice, while !! will just increase the initial die roll each time it explodes (so instead of (6 + 2 + 3) it will show (8 + 3)), which is important when you are comparing individual dice to a target number. I also tested 1d6!1!6 in the text box on the wiki and threw an error, so did 1d6!=1!=6, and 1d6!!1!!6. It doesn't look like the dice syntax will accept multiple exploding ranges on a single roll.

ah, well, I am not using a system myself where I actually utilize Exploding dice, so I was kinda pulling deep from my memory, thank you for clarifying it. I had partially recalled it correctly, I just mis-remembered the descriptors was all, it explodes it and makes it display once, it doesn't explode once. ty for the correction. I edited my suggestions to reflect the results as well as to clarify the incorrect information i had recalled incorrectly.
