[LFG] Call of Cthulhu, any BRP or O.R.E system games.

Hello, Roll20! Aside from CoC or Godlike, BRP (Basic Roleplaying) and O.R.E (One Roll Engine) seem to be pretty niche systems. I found out about them a couple days ago and it took me about a night to read both of their quickstart guides. I found a few BRP games, but they were full and from a while back. A little sick of fantasy, but if there's a game I'll join! If there are none, but there's enough interest, I'll put my hat in the ring to GM.
Well you accpet Homebrew?

ORE, it kind of look like my homeberw universal system for rpg wargames, DAMIT, SOMEONE BEAT ME TO THE ONE TYPE D POOL
Woo, replies! Is there any preferences you may have? Setting, character, etc. For O.R.E's official books/settings, most are in the early 1900s with either superheros, Cthulhu, or straight detective work. They actually have quite a few books out there. In my searching around I've found a lot of people using it for SciFi, but I'm not sure if there is an official book for that. I found StarOre which is a Star Wars hack, and then some stuff for an Alien campaign. Seems like most use the Wild Talents, NEMESIS, and REIGN to homebrew. ORE seems to be pretty flexible anyway. In REIGN, a broadsword does like Width + 2 damage. In Wild Talents, Nemesis, or Godlike, a rifle does about Width + 2 damage. Lots to think about :D
For me, it comes down to owning Reign Enchiridion and having Nemesis floating around on my hard drive. Something similar to those I could play in without a problem, the further you push away from them (like maybe A Dirty World) the more I'd be at sea. A sci-fi game would be interesting - Reign especially would map well with a Dune style game - but I'm not against anything specifically. Just to get this out of the way: I'm unable to GM another game at this time, so I'd only be interested in playing.

I'm liking the idea of a Dune style game. On REIGN , I figure it'd work nice. Nemesis seems interesting to me for the horror aspects. Thinking sticking to one book or two would be best, unless we'd need to bring in a rule from something else. That's what I'm seeing other people do. ORE is sort of the base mechanic, then you create a hodgepodge of rules. If that happened, I'd write up something on the rule so you didn't have to search through the book to find it. I hear you, though, I'd want to GM. Unless someone else comes along and has a lot of experience. So far, I think it's just you and me. Not sure if Stmpeng was here for this or not. Still free to join, though! It's easy to learn :D
I seem to recall there was some sort of user-made big ORE Toolkit floating around too with a bunch of rules to pick and choose from, if you need more things to consider. Scheduling might be good to bring up at some point. When there's a game I want to play in seems like the prospective GM either disappears or lives in Espoo, Finland where the time zones don't mesh well (I'm GMT-7).

Oh, yeah, you're right. I remember saving that! Glancing at just the table of contents, there's a lot that could apply. Definitely have to give that a good look through. Some, I've found, don't like the initiative system. Or, how the width x height determines, for example, how you jump over a fence. If you have a low width, you'll go over the fence slowly. With a low height, you go over the fence sloppily. The argument being if my whole goal was to go over the fence fast, I don't care how I do it. The flip-side being if I wanted to move over the fence without being seen or heard (stealth), so I don't care how quickly I go over. Any thoughts on that? Dude, I'm GMT-7 too (Arizona, MST), and I don't plan on disappearing anytime soon. One game I wanted to join recently, they were all from the UK and started their game at around six in the morning my time. The only issue is finding another player or two. Figuring out all the rules to use, too.
Where in Arizona? I'm in North Phoenix.
Once you nail down the rules and setting, players are fairly easy to get.
Used to live in Phoenix, now I'm a little ways outside of Tucson. I prefer Phoenix, myself. Might be moving up that way again, actually.
I wanted to offer this up as a possibility: my friend and I are discussing re-launching a game I ran previously on Roll20. We were going to use a different system, but there's no reason why ORE wouldn't work and Nemesis particularly would be a good fit. The concept of the game is the players are members of a sheriff's department in a small county in New Mexico, dealing with everything from quirky residents to modern day cattle rustlers. Sort of Justified meets Homicide: Life on the Street meets Tombstone meets Twin Peaks . It'd be much more mundane than default Nemesis would be, but the stress tracks could still be used to good effect and bring in a "slice of life" effect to the characters. Agree 100% on Phoenix over Tucson. Seems like the further north you go, the better it is but the cost of living gets higher.
True, true. The game sounds good. Sign me up :D
Every other Saturday night work for you? 7 PM - 10 or so? Crap. This means I kinda need to get to work.
Yep, work for me. Haha, that's what I was feeling!
Do me a favor and PM me your email address so that I can keep you updated with how things are going. I'd like to have the first character creation/discussion session either the 15th or the 22nd, but need to check with both my wife and the NASCAR schedule to make sure I don't block off too many of the wrong Saturdays.
