New player wondering where to start

So i'm 100% new to table top games and was just wondering where the best place to start would be. I've been interested in the WOD universe for a while and have wanted to joining a game based on it however since I have no experience im not really sure where to start. Think I should just jump right in and join a game? I bought the core books for a few of the lines and have been reading through them so I guess I understand the rules and things, just looking for some adivce on starting out, thanks
David V. said: Think I should just jump right in and join a game? Yes, absolutely. Just be prepared that it might take a little bit to find a group and it's perfectly normal for it to take a couple of attempts before finding a group that "clicks" and works well together. Good luck!
I'm a little worried about not understanding the rules though, like I said I've listened to podcasts but those were all DnD ones so im 100% new to WOD, idk maybe im just think to much about it
If you use the Looking for Group Search Tool you have the option to search for games that "welcome new players." You can also find periodic one-shots that generous GMs run that are geared specifically towards helping people learn different systems. Take a look around and find something that looks interesting to you. If you're at all concerned about learning the rules, just send the GM a message and let them know that you're new. Many of them don't mind helping people pick up the system as they go.

Each GM is going to put a unique and different spin on how he or she presents the material and sets up the game and short of playing in their game, you can't prepare for that. If you own the books, have a feel for how the mechanics work and know a little bit of the backstory, you're ahead of most of the players out there. If you communicate with the GM - already exemplified here - and put a little effort into things - again such as demonstrated here - then you're well on your way to being a top tier player. Just go for it.
