The digital box set edition of Do Not Let Us Die In The Dark Night Of This Cold Winter is live now on the marketplace, right here ! This is a system neutral mini-game, adventure, side quest, or even a board game. It will slide neatly and nicely long side whatever fantasy RPG your group is using for their ongoing campaign and can help you move an entire winter along in a single session. The premise is that somewhere out in the wilderness, very far from civilization, a village is clutched in a death grip by a terrible, very awful winter season. The storeroom is emptied, and they need help surviving until spring. Adventurers will move in turns collecting supplies and then distributing what they find among the village buildings, hoping to keep as many folks alive as they possibly can. Not every villager will have all they need to live, so players will have to carefully, strategically ration the food, fuel, and medicine to ensure life goes on in the village. Some villagers might need to go hungry for a turn, and some might need to go sick so that another might not. Each turn represents a passage of time you decide, be it a week or a day or even a year for those winters that last many many years. Towards the end of each turn an occurrence is drawn from the coffin shaped deck of cards; usually this is some disaster or misfortune the adventurers must mitigate but it occasionally is something not so bad. This fancy, box set addition of the module comes with handouts outlining the rules, tokens to keep track of adventuring class, player and GM sheets to keep track of supplies and villager conditions, and (when it hits the upload) a PDF of the original game that explains the concepts of the game in greater detail and includes examples of play. If you grab this and give it a play, let me know how your adventurers do!
